I like some of Evanescence's songs but haven't really been into the band or know much about them or Amy Lee, so I don't really have an opinion on her, although that article doesn't really make her sound like a very nice/mature person.

Well, none of the posters to that thread seem to be overly blessed with maturity. There hasn't been a band in the world that hasn't had its legions of stupid, incoherent "anti-fans" whose most deeply held sentiment is that "[BAND NAME] SUCKS!11!!!!11!1!" repeated endlessly in larger fonts and with more exclamation points.

The truth of the matter is: If a band/artist sells as well as (pick one) Evanescence, Avril Lavigne, Backstreet Boys, or any other of today's most-love-to-hate bands, someone must like them. Jesus Tapdancing Christ, admit that some people have different tastes than you do and that that doesn't make them inferior! Or, y'know, in other words: grow the fuck up.

That having been said, it is absolutely abhorrent that so many people can find no better way of expressing their dislike of a female than with a disparaging reference to her perceived sexual orientation or habits, or with an implied threat to "do something" to her with their "cocks." I mean, really. You can tell their high school budgets had no allotment for a debate team.

Well, yeah, she probably is a gossipy whore ;-) But I was referring more to the people who were saying stuff like "Stop writing about Evanescence! No one cares.", "Who the fuck IS Cold???", etc.
