Women's Image Network Awards 2010: Sasha Alexander, Rizzoli & Isles win!

If you're not on Twitter, you may not have seen the winners for the 2010 Women's Image Network Awards presented on Tuesday, January 18, 2011.  The WIN website says the organization aims to "shape positive public opinion about the value of women and girls by celebrating outstanding film and television that fosters powerful and dimensional female media images."

Good news!  Sasha Alexander won for Best Actress in a Drama Series for the episode 1.08 I'm Your Boogie Man, beating out co-star Angie Harmon, as well as Jada Pinkett Smith for HawthoRNe, Patricia Arquette for Medium, and Jeanne Tripplehorn and Chloë Sevigny for Big Love.

Rizzoli & Isles also won for Best Drama (for what I thought was one of the weakest episodes, 1.02 Boston Strangler Redux, but I guess that doesn't matter now).  It was up against two other TNT series, Southland and HawthorRNe, as well as Medium (CBS) and Treme (HBO).  Janet Tamaro looks pleased :-):

There are more photos on Facebook and another photo gallery.

While these awards are relatively low-key (I haven't seen any mainstream media coverage), they also seem to be fairly well-respected in the industry, so I'm sure it was a nice welcome back to Sasha, who managed to return quietly to the U.S.  She also received a sweet congratulatory tweet from Angie Harmon, which I believe is Angie's first public tweet to Sasha.

Congratulations to Sasha and the producers of Rizzoli & Isles.  Seems like filming of S2 is just around the corner now!
