[Accidental Video] Introduction Post {1}

Dec 22, 2010 12:28

[The video flickers and you see an unusually tall man looking around warily, left hand on the sandalwood grip of his revolver. Being in a place he's never seen before isn't something new to him, but he still doesn't like it. His left hand goes up to pinch the bridge of his nose in frustration, and if you're looking closely, you'll notice he's ( Read more... )

Hey, you sound unfamiliar... [It's a rough, distinctly masculine voice.]

You new here? I dunno about old people, but it's been a while since MEMORIA dragged someone else here.

[Roland's grip tightens on his gun at the sound of a new voice.]

MEMORIA? What is this you speak of? I would have you tell me.

Hey, if we knew more 'bout her, we probably would've beaten her already.

She's some crazy computer that kidnapped all of us. S'why we're stuck here in Reverie Lane.

Nice t'meet ya. I'm Abarai Renji.

Computer? [He's surprised to hear that computers still work in this place. It's been many many years since he's heard of one that still operates.]

I'm Roland Deschain of Gilead. Long Days and Pleasant Nights, if it do ya.

[He hates the thought that he managed to be kidnapped in his sleep.]

Heh. Same to you.

MEMORIA doesn't like the idea of givin' us much respite, though.

The nights ain't always peaceful. Remember a stormy one that got draggged on for days. How about the time we got attacked by zombies?

Zombies. [He sighs. They wouldn't be much of a problem for him.]

How many people are in this place?

I'unno, plenty. You can ask the computer lady.

Uh, Infi, not MEMORIA. This one's on our side... I think.

She's kind of neutral, but in a helpful sort of way, I guess.

Anyway, she's safe. Weird sci-fi-lookin' chick with rainbow hair and a skirt with holes in it and stuff.

Usually, we're not stuck in a desert, though. She likes changing the scenery sometimes, y'know?

[Ah yes, the girl from the video. He didn't realize she was a computer though. He will have to ask her about the different creatures of this place, to know what he is up against.]

So this will change at the will of MEMORIA? Interesting.

Bingo!

We're tryin' to find a way outta here, but no luck so far.

Sometimes, people disappear... [His voice grows quiet, almost remorseful, but the silence doesn't last for long.] And other times, we get new ones, like you.

[At hearing that, Roland decides that as long as he is here, people will stop disappearing. He will do his best. The Line of the Eld commands it.]

This isn't the strangest thing I've uncounted on my travels, but I still don't like it. [He frowns and his blue eyes light up with frustration.]

{Just thought I'd mention that Roland is a descendant of King Arthur, that is what Line of the Eld means. His revolver is the melted down Excalibur. :)}

The ones that disappear aren't dead.

Nobody knows what happens to 'em. Some like to think they went back home, but I don't think MEMORIA's that kind.

((... too cool.))

Sounds a lot like something I have dealt with before. Only they were children that were being taken and they were brought back ruined. [He says that last word with a bit of disgust.]

But I'm guessing that these don't come back.

{He had two revolvers but he's not quite sure what happened to the other one. That a part of his memory loss that he doesn't even realize he has...yet.}

Heh, yeah. Sometimes, the world's an ugly place for a kid. [He may be laughing, but it's heavily bitter.] ... ruined in what way?

... no. Not most of them. One was just a little brat too.

((Oh, boy. ^^; ))

These children were twins. Every so often one of the set was taken so that their brain could be plundered to feed Breakers, people who are [He struggles for the word because it's still unfamiliar to him.] telekinetic? [He thinks that's right.]

These children came back dumb, slobbering idiots who grew to be giants and would never be able to take care of themselves.

[His frown deepens as he thinks of that time.]

This MEMORIA does experiments on the people here. I wonder what she wants to know.

[He wouldn't know about telekinesis or whatever, his vocabulary's limited as it is, but he gets the gist. Sort of.]

That's horrible. [He sounds disgustd.]

I think she's just bored. And crazy.

[He nods. It was indeed horrible.]

Bored? [His blue eyes blaze. This computer kidnapped him out of boredom? It makes him angry to hear it. He was taken off the Path of the Beam to his Tower for boredom, this computer must think highly of herself.]
