Feels like it’s been forever and a day since I came back from Asylum 5 and guess what? I still haven’t finished my report. It’s partly laziness and partly lack of time, so I’ll just write up my personal experiences here and if you want a more thorough account of the Sunday, check out my friend Ines’ report
here.
I was stewarding again Sunday morning, which was great because Misha, Jake and Julie were signing and people were very well behaved, so basically I got 3 hours of ogling Misha and Jake from afar ^^ Apparently Jake didn’t like the plain navy tablecloth they’d put on the autograph tables, because once most people had gotten their autographs and the lines got shorter, he started drawing on it XD So in the end, it looked like this:
Donna later gave it to me as a gift because she didn’t know what to do with it. LOL, so now I have Jake’s tablecloth and *I* don’t know what to do with it ^^ It’s WAY too big for my table. Sell it on eBay, maybe, and donate the money to Random Acts? *scratches head*
At one point Donna gave me the b/w 10x8 photos of Misha, Jake and Julie and asked me to queue for her and get her autographs because she was too busy. So once the lines got shorter, I did exactly that. Jake said, “Oh, hi again” and I was like, “Hey.” Yeah, I know. Most eloquent conversation ever XD Then I got to Misha’s table, and he was like, “What the hell are YOU doing here, AGAIN?!” I shrugged and went, “I’m working. I HAVE to be here. Pff.” You know, like it was the most repulsive thing in the world having to get Misha’s autograph. Misha then cracked up and asked how I was and I said “fine, thank you” and off I went to get Julie’s autograph. I don’t remember what I said to her, but she smiled and I smiled back. It’s really, REALLY sad that I loathe her character so much, because Julie is lovely.
Then it was time for my Mark photo op. I had this idea that involved a small stuffed Pluto dog as Steve Growley the hellhound. Mark was supposed to strike a cool pose and I wanted to act scared. But then I came in and Mark was all chatty catty and all smiles (despite being awfully tired - poor guy!) and when I showed him the hound, he was all awwww and put him on his shoulder XD So I was like, OK whatever. We’ll do a cute pic ^^
I still wanted to use my original idea, though, and so I recycled it for my Mark & Misha photo. Again, it turned out a little different - I look more ‘whatever’ and Mark looks… like a fond daddy or something XD But I <3 it.
Coming back to the Main Hall after the photo, Aldis was still on stage. I walked in just as someone asked him if he had special skills, and he went, “Well, I can do push-ups.” And then of course everyone wanted him to do push-ups, but Aldis was like, “Nah, I’m not doing them all by myself. I’ll do some if one of you guys joins me.” Then of course people were a but ‘uhm’… and guess what? Yeeep. Me, being in the first row and an enthusiastic volunteer for all things nutty, I got up and went on stage. Aldis blinked and gave me an amusedly puzzled look and went, “For real?” or something, and I went, “Yeah, c’mon. Let’s do this.” And so… we did push-ups ^^

He totally DESTROYED me, obviously… but I knew that was gonna happen. I mean, I run, but I don’t do any weight training and I have NO strength in my arms ^^ I got to 10, which is all I wanted ^^ YOU’RE WELCOME, PEOPLE ;) My arms hurt like hell for the rest of the day (and the day after, lol), but it was totally worth it because I got the biggest hug ever from him, right on stage ^^
And then it was lunchtime. I went to find Ines and MJ because earlier that morning, I’d performed sexual favors asked Wayne and Paul to print a photo of Misha and his dad on stage the night before. I wanted to give it to them as a gift, because I’m pretty sure this is and will be a unique situation. I also took one picture of all guests together on stage and I was gonna give a copy of that to everyone. So during the break, Ines, MJ and I sat down and wrote Thank You messages on the backs of the pictures so we could hand them out later.
I couldn’t WAIT until after lunch, obviously. Actually, I was antsy all through Misha’s coffee lounge. It was pretty boring, at least to me, because there seemed to be a lot of new people who asked questions that have been asked several times before. AND I JUST WANTED TO GIVE MISHA AND HIS DAD (who’d joined us) THE GIFT!!! When the coffee lounge was over, we went to Misha and I gave him the pictures. He was totally baffled for a second, looking at the b/w pic and probably wondering where the hell we got that from, so I told him I asked the organizers to print it for me. And it was such a magical moment because Misha seemed so… moved. Speechless, if you will, and then he smiled all happy like. AND THEN MISHA GAVE ME AND MJ AND INES (separately, lol) A TIGHT, SQUEEZY HUG!!! <3 <3 <3 I FLOATED out of the room, because you know what? HE’S PROBABLY GONNA PUT THAT PICTURE UP IN HIS HOUSE SOMEWHERE. I totally believe that ^^
The last event of the day was the Jake and Julie coffee lounge. It was actually supposed to be just a Jake coffee lounge, but Julie and her small group decided to join us. We still weren’t a lot of people, maybe 15 or 20, and it was pretty relaxed and nice. I can’t remember what we talked about, but at some point Jake suggested we should crash Misha’s panel, cause he was like, “What is this, his… tenth panel this weekend?! XD Of course we were all for it. Our original plan was to take our chairs and coffee cups and have a tea party on stage, but the PA (I think) said we couldn’t do that, bla bla bla, that only Jake and Julie could go on stage, etc. So we did it anyway. We walked into the Main Hall, all of us, and then Jake and Julie were wandering around the stage, pretending to be lost. Misha then dared us (the group) to cross the stage, and when we did (I went second, I think) he was like, “Now you’re all gonna get thrown out” or something ^^ It was FUN!
And then the Sunday was over :-( I was sooo sad when the closing ceremony rolled around, you don’t even know. I damn nearly cried. But I had one more job to do. I waited at the side until it was over and when the guests went out, I gave Misha the group photos and asked him to hand them out to the others. And Brain (staff member) said he did, so yay :-)
All I gotta say, really, is… IS IT MAY YET?!?!?! I need Asylum Europe, like… yesterday!
THANK YOU, ROGUE EVENTS, FOR THE GREAT WEEKEND!
