Tonight on The John Zone

Sep 23, 2014 16:53

Today is September 23. this means that it is a Tuesday, the anniversary of the discovery of Neptune by john Couch Adams and Johann Gottfried galle and yes, another opportunity for The John Zone to bombard your consciousness with merriment!
Today marks the first full day of fall in the northern hemisphere. While it is a time for cooler temperatures and American football, it also marks a time of transition between the care-free days of summer and the onset of more responsibility. What better way then to usher in a new season then by celebrating the equinox with an assortment of random tracks?
Today also marks the birthdays of German vocalist Natalie Horler (of Cascada,) 33; rapper-producer Jermaine Dupri, 42; Indian entertainer Kumar Sanu, 57; and Bruce Springsteen, 65. Additionally, no broadcast would be complete without acknowledging the birthdays of the late Ray Charles who would have been eighty-four today, as well as the princeps Civitatis himself, Augustus Caesar, who would have been a spritely 2,077 years young had he not been felled by poisoned figs.
All this, a salute to Nintendo on behalf of its one hundred twenty-fifth anniversary, leftover tracks about pirates, an arbitrary Bach concerto courtesy of Jan Tomasow, Anton Heiller, and the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra, and proof of how much difference a drummer’s absence can make on a live performance, plus your requests and interaction can be heard tonight beginning at 11PM BST, 6PM EDT, 5PM CDT, 3PM PDT, or on Wednesday at 6AM AWST, 8AM AEST, 10AM NZST.
