NOW’S THE TIME

I’m no answer
To all your silly insecurities laid bare
And we’re all tired
But not tired enough to throw away the minutes and the days
Show me what made you
The people that you meet and see, the darkness that you breathe
You’re undeserving
Of your petty self esteem and worries that belong to me
And it’s in your eyes
And it’s in your voice
And we’re living now
And we’re breathing now

Your unwashed memories
Can contort and twist until you don’t know who you are at all
Let’s raise our glasses
To the cardboard cutout soldiers and your harbingers of gloom
And I won’t question
How you got to be so dumb and blind that you couldn’t think at all
I could help you
But helping’s much to selfish for my ways
But you’re living now
Yeah, you’re breathing now

Our shadows never touched the ground
Your breath was cold as fire
Sharing each other’s misery
And listening to the choir
And the piper played a tune
But his chords were uninspired
Too late to find a different song
Too late to find desire
You’re too real for me
I’m too real for you
And we’re too real to see
That we’re working
But we’re alright now
Yeah we’re moving now
We’re all living now
We’re all human now

Times are changing
The smiles on their faces turn to alcoholic sneers
Your voice is raspy
But I’d never hope to make my words come out so smooth

Let’s all worry now
‘Cause we’re growing now
And we’re changing now
Yeah we’re dancing now
