Keeping it real

Between the cats and the commuting, I am left with very little time for anything else at the moment. Especially as I am still also working at the Arts Centre, at least until this weekend. As if they had a premonition I was leaving, I have already done 5 shifts this week, with two more to go. and another two at the weekend. :(

On the cat front, things have not been going particularly well, to be honest. James Brown, The Godfather Of Soul has not really been eating, and is very docile. I have experimented with loads of different foods to find something they will eat, but until yesterday nothing was very successful- they would both just lick off the jelly and leave the meat, or be sick later (Fish Finger is less fussy, though, and will eventually eat). I tried several different foods at the weekend, and they seemed to like Nature's Menu, which is of course the most expensive, but at 70% meat (compared to 3.3% in Whiskas) it's at least better for them, I think. Actually went as far as cooking a piece of fish and blending it in the food processor the other day, desperately trying to find something they would eat. It is not fun to see a cat basically starving, especially when they meow at you looking all sad. Naturally they loved the fish, but miracle of miracles, it seems they will lap up (and, more importantly, keep down) Whiskas tinned kitten food in 'loaf'. I don't know what loaf is, but they eat it, so that's good enough for me. They both seem to have a bit more energy now (Fish Finger is a bit of a nutcase, and contrary to earlier reports, is definitely the livelier of the two at the moment), and enjoy a rousing game of "chase the string". It will be a great relief when JBTGOS's shoulder blades don't stick up so much (starting to rethink that name, it's not as good as I first imagined- currently calling her 'Little Little' because she is so small). Also, catnip leaves on the scratching post are getting Fish Finger to use it (sometimes), and it is quite amusing to see a kitten on wacky cat-baccy. Not as amusing as a "chase the string" skid-out on a laminate floor, but close.

So I currently have six different kinds of cat food in the house, one of which they will actually eat. Ho hum. Got my cousins Rob and Stuart coming to stay this weekend (16 and 14 respectively), which should be fun. Sister's birthday on Saturday, going bowling with her+bf, 2 cousins and Gemma. Back in London next week (sigh).

"Fuck it, dude, let's go bowling"
