This is about RAB. If you don't know what RAB means, don't read this thread, k?

Personally, I think that RAB is Regulus Black. It fits the first and last initials, and if I remember correctly (I don't have my book with me, it's still in the car), the note refered to Voldy as the Dark Lord, which pretty much narrows it down to a Death Eater. If I'm wrong about that last part, slap me upside the head or something.

You're not wrong. I agree completely.
Okay, so, RAB. There are (as far as I can see) three possibilities.
1) R. Amelia Bones
2) R. Amy Benson
3) Regulus A. Black
Let's start, logically, with Amelia Bones. I doubt this very much. She's mentioned only once, and since she was a powerful witch with a lot of connections and was also sympathetic to Dumbledore, it's not suspicious to me at all that Voldemort wanted her dead. Frankly I'm surprised Voldemort didn't kill more people in the Order. Why Emeline Vance? But that's not important to this topic. Also, Amelia Bones wouldn't have used the name "Dark Lord" unless she was a Death Eater, which I very much doubt that she was. She was too sympathetic to Dumbledore and Harry to be a Death Eater. We don't need another Snape thank you.
2) Amy Benson is an interesting theory. She smells like a Mark Evans to me, and even JKR acknowledged that he sounded like somebody important. So... is she another oversight, or a red herring? I'd say red herring. A complete muggle-born would be unlikely to be a Death Eater, and Dumbledore surely would have mentioned it if he went to Hogwarts. If she was a muggle, that makes it even less plausible.
3) Regulus Black is my favorite theory. His name keeps cropping up. There's no reason to keep mentioning him unless JKR doesn't want us to forget about him. There's definitely something weird there. Also, it would explain both the reason for the scenes cleaning Grimmauld Place and the scene with Harry catching Mungdungus with some of Sirius's stuff. It leaves us in doubt whether the locket that the trio saw in OotP is still there or not. Harry will have quite a job finding it even if it is the horcrux, and we don't even have proof that it is. However, all the clues lead to Regulus. He was a Death Eater; he was killed by Voldemort or his followers, and he was killed quickly, even though judging by Karkaroff, it is possible to hide from Voldy for at least a little while. To me that fits as well. R.A.B. seemed to know that he was going to die, and he seemed to accept it. So if he didn't run, but just waited for Voldy to send someone to kill him. Yeah, I reckon three days sounds about right. Perhaps Regulus is to be our new reformed Death Eater. Or perhaps he is linked to Snape in some way. It is all very strange, but if I'm right about any of my book 7 theories, I hope it will be this one. I don't really want to read a book about Harry uncovering the story of Amy Benson, the first and last muggle-born Death Eater.
