ladurée and black swan

This weekend was my last weekend before starting my second Semester on Monday. My last exams (oral exams) went well. Then, I had four lovely days to enjoy my break. I'm sure the next few months will be rather intense as I'll have a two-hour class on Saturday at 4pm which seems to me pretty odd and rather completely and utterly unbelievable (I've been complaining to everyone ! Sorry, you were the next ones on the list !).

Today, I went to Ladurée with my friend J which was really nice. They had all those nice decorations on for Valentine's Day.

And then, we went to see Black Swan. Here are my thoughts
It was difficult to know what I had thought of it when I left the cinema. I knew I had loved it but I didn't really know what I had loved in particular.I simply thought it was very beautiful. The light was gloomy but mesmerizing, the dancing parts were really dynamic and quite fascinating, the costumes were gorgeous and the actors were beautiful (I have such a crush on Mila Kunis in this film ! And I wasn't really a fan of her before. Vincent Cassel was, I thought, perfect). I haven't read any review completely as I got spoiled for the ending and didn't want to know more so I don't know what people have to say about that but I really loved the eroticism in the film. It sounds silly I know ! Natalie Portman is not supposed to be desirable (cf. it is explicitly said by Vincent Cassel in the film) and yet there is all this tension around her with both men and women. I thought it was really interesting !
As for the "main plot" of the film, I loved it but was slightly disappointed by some passages at the end. It was so subtle and well-written most of the time (the part of the mother is perfect !, the said eroticism, the mirroring, etc) but the ending lacked of something in a way. The big revelation wasn't as good as the beginning in my opinion.
I still need to process everything, though !

I'm reading True Grit by Charles Portis (Donna Tartt wrote the afterword) at the moment which I would like to finish before I see the film. The film looks very good ! We saw the trailer today.

I hope you had a great Saturday too !
