I asked sullypants to interview me !

1. Leave me a comment saying, 'interview me'.
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions. (You must do this, even if it's filtered for my eyes only!)
4. Include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1. How do you organize your bookshelves? Is there a method to it?
When I first got my bookshelves, I used to be a real maniac about it. I organized my books by size. I wish I had a picture of it because I don't even remember how it used to look like. Every shelf was very symmetrical. Also, the books were align so that their edges formed a straight line. On the same shelf I kept my English-language books. Then, I started to have lots of these. That's why I now have lots of books twice : the original version and the French translation. Anyway. When it started to get a bit out of hand, I just decided to organize them by authors so that I could find them easily. And I think you could say that on the top shelves are my favourit books.
I'm still fussy today and I can see when someone has gone through my books !

2. What do your parents do for a living?
My father works for a Swiss firm. They sell different types of cutting machines : laser machines, machines that work with water (yes, I swear). In France we say he is a technical director but does this word applies to the same thing in the United States? It sounds like it but I can't be 100% positive.
My mother didn't work for a long time. She got back to work two years ago. She works in administration in a company. She loves it. I'm very happy for her. That's where I worked last Summer. She gets to do lots of different things.

3. Describe how you would spend the perfect day.
That's hard ! I suppose I have to interpret the question because I could have many different answers. If I try to remember a perfect day I had, I immediately think of the week I spent in Stockholm with my friends. It was really great : we walked a lot, discovered lots of different things, saw lots of beautiful things, laughed and chatted together all the time, went shopping and saw many interesting people. We felt so close to each other. You are far from home but you're together and it's a strange feeling to me. We were so good together. We wanted to do the same things, at the same time. We really connected. It was really one of the best time of my life. If I could re-live one past day, I think it would be one of these.
There is nothing more fulfilling than being abroad to me. It might sound cliché but it makes me feel alive. As if I were really doing something and when I go to sleep, I know I have achieved something. That really sounds naive and stupid, I'm sorry.
And this trip was really important to me because even though I had been to Edinburgh alone with Guillaume on New Year's Eve (it was the first time I was abroad without my parents), it felt like the first time I was really being independant and it felt so good.

If I had to stay in France, then I would say : go to Paris, go to Concorde, spend HOURS in my two favourit English bookshops, have macarons for lunch at Ladurée (lemon and raspberry macarons with some Ladurée tea) and then, meet up with Thomas at Montparnasse, spend hours in La Fnac going through their dvd's, cd's and last but not least books. And then go to some clothing stores and pick up some clothes for him (because I do love chosing clothes for men, does that sound strange ? I love clothes for men). And finally we would go for some hot chocolate or some coca cola. The thing I love the most about Paris is to be surrounded by all these people. Versailles is empty compared to Paris. I loved crowds that's why I love shopping avenues.

I wonder if you're still reading ? lol

4. You are only allowed to watch one movie for the rest of your life--what do you choose? This may not be your favorite film, it's the one you think you could re-watch endlessly.
That is definitely hard. I had to go through my dvd's. Well, three films come to my mind : Breakfast at Tiffany"s by Blake Edwards, Rebecca by Alfred Hitchcock or Annie Hall by Woody Allen. The first one because there is something profoundly refreshing about seeing Audrey Hepburn move and talk. The second one because 1st I LOVE Joan Fontaine and she moves me so deeply in this film, everytime I see it, she always manages to reach me and it's as if I had never seen it before, 2nd you can't really get used to how beautiful Laurence Olivier looks in this and how painful he is and that never gets old and 3rd, Alfred Hitchcock is a genius. And Annie Hall because, among many other things, I love Woody Allen's accent so much I could never get bored of it.
If I really had to chose only one, I'd go with Rebecca.

5. If you could go to university anywhere in the world, completely free of charge (airfare, tuition, room & board, etc), where would it be?
I think I'd pick Edinburgh University. It's been an old dream of mine. I love the city beyond words. I love Scotland and I'd love to be part of it for some time. The university itself is very well ranked. Also, it's not a huge city and I wouldn't get too homesick. It's close to many other interesting cities and it's not so far from home. There is simply something totally surreal about being in Scotland to me. It really is a special place to me.
Oh and also, David Hume is buried there
