Back from Anime North.

- Ontario looked pretty much like the midwest, which surprised me as I was expecting more communism. That and to be colder. The latter one would have been nice for the weekend with some clouds because on Saturday, I got sunburned. AT AN ANIME CONVENTION. My nose and arms got the worst of it but my nose has been peeling for the past few days and the burn on my left arm has been fading. The right arm is healing slower but at least they don't hurt like hell.

- I didn't try anything new with food while I was there on account that my stomach decided to wreak havoc. Had a lack of appetite and I felt like throwing up from time to time when I ate anything. I had this kind of thing back when I was about to live in a dorm for the first time so it's just nerves acting up. Fortunately, it started to go away on Sunday.

Also, up in Canada it seemed perfectly normal for them to put gravy on their french fries. It's a good thing they always ask if you want that on your food or not, else I would have eaten even less.

- Bought Red Dead Redemption, a used copy of Scarface for the PSP and two prints of Travis Touchdown and one of the Team Fortress 2 classes. I usually don't buy stuff like those prints because I think that it gets into a complicated situation when is it okay to buy an artist's drawing of someone's copyrighted characters, knowing that the copyright holders don't see a dime for it. However, there wasn't a lot of things I was interested at the con to buy as a souvenir. Some of the figures available looked cool but they were too rich for my blood and I can get most manga at the comic store with a 50% discount so there wasn't a point to pay cover price (or even MORE) at a convention.

- Meeting everyone, almost all of them for the first time in person, was pretty exciting. kopiispace was nice enough to sign my Yokaiden volumes and an extra one that I am going to put on display at my store.

- We didn't have much time to play video games with each other but we all managed to watch Fight Club and Godzilla: Final Wars together. I haven't seen either and while Fight Club was interesting, I liked Godzilla: Final Wars more. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically a tribute movie by the director of Versus (which I saw at croik's house on Sunday.) It has the greatest fight scene ever, a dude that looks like Mike Haggar and the best way to treat the Tristar Godzilla film. I'd strongly recommend watching it for fun times.

After Godzilla: Final Wars, wyborn and I did a little trade on Saturday at his place. He borrowed my copy of Alan Wake and I borrowed his copy of Earth Defense Force 2017. I'm only about 3% done with that game, but I like what I see so far. Some of it reminds me a bit of Robot Alchemic Drive, minus controlling a giant robot to ruin some girl's life while fighting aliens.

- Also on Saturday, I had the biggest scare ever: I left my bag behind at a diner which had almost everything I packed outside of my clothes! Fortunately, we got back there and it was left untouched which really surprised me since I assumed the worst with people in general.

- I only went to two panels: a web comics one with ryuko_midori as a panelist on Friday and the AA panel on Sunday with croik. Outside of those two doing great, the panels were kind of "eh". The web comics panel had three people on the panel and the two strangers had no experience in the business at all. And they were trying to give people advice on how to make a web comic! If that ain't the ultimate in fan entitlement or however you wanna call it, I don't know what is.

The AA panel was a little better though there were some random people that decided to jump onto the panel. While one of them was willing to discuss things and knew about the games, the other one was dressed as Cloud from FF7 when he wore a dress said that she knew nothing about the games and just sat there. That kind of pissed me off when I heard it because I thought that in order to be on the panel, you had to be someone who knew a lot about the fandom or did worthwhile things. Turns out all you had to do was be a jackass and hope that everyone else is too polite to say "Fuck off". I WAS surprised that the people attending it didn't talk endlessly about how Capcom should do this or that to please them or go on about their pairings that should be canon.

- There was a cosplayer there that caused all kinds of havoc because she had to be the center of attention. She rearranged a bunch of photoshoots to fit her schedule including the AA one on Saturday that all of my friends at AN set up or were attending. That more than likely explained why there wasn't that many people outside of us there. That also pisses me off because if I am going to get a sunburn taking pictures of people, I want to take pictures of everyone that ever went in an AA costume, not just 4 or 5 people outside of my friends.

Thing is, she was also on the AA panel and I didn't realize that until just recently. People on 4Chan are also mad as hell over everything she did but I don't have a link for that stuff.

I even shook hands with that woman. I'd cut my hand off if it wasn't for the fact she wore gloves.

But in spite of the sunburn, the issues with my stomach/bag/other people, and sleeping on the hotel floor, I actually enjoyed myself and I want to go again next year.
