Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite tv show:
"Stranger in a Strange Land" from Lost. I know, how different. But really, I don't think it's as horrible as everyone says, the episode just reinforced yeah, Jack's obsessive and oh, remember that one time he told Sawyer he went there?. But the while tattoo story could have been told in a conversation or not at all. Whatever.
Speaking of~ some people say Across the Sea was worse? Idk, I really liked last night's episode. While watching I was really excited about it, then disapponted when I saw negative comments but then I thought and absorbed it and now I really like it.
So, they're brothers. Nifty. And their mom kills their real mom right off the back. Nice. And poor Brother doesn't have a name. Now though I'm not concerned with learning his name, if we did it would be like learning the Doctor's name. It just wouldn't live up after it had been so built up.
I really love how Jacob is all innocent and a momma's boy ("look mommy! Look at the rug I made! Do you like it? :D"). Both boys were innocent growing up, not fully understanding what death is - where people are says that they killed boar so they should know Death, but I say death with people is a different experience. It's normal for the lower things to die for survivial but for your own to die, people, it's a harder concept (like The Lion King lol). But then Brother moves away and learns about others, even saying that the other people are bad, where Jacob doesn't understand, and Jacob was sheltered and didn't know how to handle things, leading to throwing his brother in the glow cave. And so then, in Jacob's quest his thing about bringing people to the Island is to prove that people are good, unlike what his mom and brother said about them.
Which goes with the theory of tabula rasa where people are born a blank slate at birth and then corrupted and influenced by outside interaction. And of course, this what Jack referred to the Island as to Kate where they can start over. And that's what it was for Jacob and his brother: a place where their mom was keeping them innocent.
As for Smokey's connection to Brother...one of two things.
One, Smokey was there already and throwing the body into the cave resulted in his death and Smokey just took the brother's form, like he did with Locke. This would explain why their mom said not go in there because she knew what would happen.
Two, that the brother going in there turned him into something else, into Smokey. Which would go with their mom saying what's in there is "worse than death".
I don't really know for sure, but I'm leaning towards one. Which if that's true, Jacob didn't really know much more about the smoke monster than the others because he just like...happened. Unless of course Smokey told Jacob what he was.
The glow cave (which really, the vagina imagry isn't that huge. Opening=vag always? Idk maybe I need to see it again lol. I wasn't focused on that part) would it be the electromagnitism, right? Because it's not like they had a name for it, just "something that makes metal act funny". But how it contained Smokey or turned Brother into Smoke..idk. It made Desmond see things so it's possible. And I said it during the episode: what Locke said wayyy back when "I looked into the eye of the Island and what I saw was beautiful"... The light glow I think.
Season 1 flashback!! (so good to see Real Locke not Smokey Locke).
But!! Ben and Jacob have a lot in common! Jacob was the one that felt not special and did everything for someone but still, that wasn't good enough. Just <3
IDK SOO NEAT. Yeah it may have answered some questions and made more questions but it was awesome.
