Worst Traveling Ever

So! Family vacation to Utah for the Shakespearean Festival! Yay!

First off, I am on day three post toe-surgery. Er, yay?

Then! Really bad turbulence in the first leg of the trip in the Cessna. Well, bad for me, anyway. Everybody else is pretty ok, but I spend a couple hours silently chanting "I will not be sick, I will not be sick." We land in Page to assess the weather, and decide to rent a car and drive the remaining three hours to Cedar City, rather than risk the flight.

We have lunch first!

While at lunch, Erik calls Dad's cell. He and his girlfriend had been driving up in his car, and...got into a wreck. Which totalled the car. Fortunately, no one was injured besides some bad bruises.

But we now have a problem! They are stranded in Tuba City, approximately an hour from Page - in the wrong direction. Plus, the car we rented really only seats five. Mom and Dad decide to drive down there and pick them up, and maybe they'll rent another car or something. Jimmy and I will stay at the FBO at the Page airport, because I badly need to soak my feet by this time, anyway.

Four hours later, Jimmy and I start calling Dad and Erik's cells a lot. Because, y'know, the FBO closes at seven. As does the terminal. Everything closes, we have no car, no luggage, and, oh, yeah - I can't walk. But the cells appear to be out of service range. Oh noes!

Jimmy and I sit around outside for about half an hour, and finally get a call from Erik. They're on the way into Page! This is good, because it's raining again, and we're short on shelter.

But once they arrive, we still have the problem of too many people, too little car. So three of us cram into the front seat, and three in the back. For a three hour drive.

Dude. I am in love with this hotel room. Never have I been happier to arrive at a hotel.

(and, for those of you who were wondering, Jimmy and I did end up in a room together. Of course, he's already fast asleep, but at least I can cuddle up to him a little, right?)
