Fethiye, Hillside above the Amphitheater; Friday Night

Well, for a birthday, it had been quite an unremarkable day. Emily had made her best to remain in high spirits when around people, but truth to be told, she felt pretty crappy on the inside. It wasn't that she hadn't had a proper birthday since longer than anyone should, not entirely. It was mostly because she had somehow made it all the way there, and things were only going to start getting more and more complicated. She knew Nolan wasn't even going to bother with board meetings, but from now on she was supposed to start making a name for Emily Thorne, one way or another.

It was funny, how Fandom was starting to shape like the one place she didn't need to think about her life choices, and probably due to her birthday it was that the little solace she had found was now being perturbed. Even in freaking Turkey she was supposed to deal with it; she could've just hid under her bed if she was on the dorms, but things just didn't go that way.

So there she was, sitting on a nice hill on a cool night, cellphone opened and a number already dialed. All she had to do was to press the shiny green button and she would contact the one who was really getting a year older somewhere in...another universe? Emily wasn't even sure how that worked, but things had a way to find those they were intended for, she knew that much; maybe the crazy was rubbing on her already.

What Emily didn't expect was to receive a call before she could make up her mind. She knew that number, and she didn't want to answer. Still, Emily knew he would keep calling her until she gave in; better not give him that satisfaction. "I swear to God, if I come back to Fandom and find you have sent a pony over there for my birthday I'll hunt you down and make you eat your laptop. All of them."

At the other side of the line, a very rich, very odd guy grinned.

It was a pretty short lived conversation, all in all.

"No I don't have a boyfriend."

"No, nearly anyone knows it's today. I like it better that way."

"No, I'm not introducing you to any hot friends of mine. Yes they are all pretty hot."

"...just send the papers over the next week and I'll sign them. That's basically the best birthday present you can aim to give me. No, seriously, it is."

They said their goodbyes soon after, not because Nolan had an issue with ridiculous high telephone bills, but because Emily had never found a way to deal with that guy yet. You had to give it to him, he really wanted to stick around. Emily typed the number again and stared at it. And stared. And stared.

But she didn't call.

[ This is actually totally open! Anyone is invited to even have eavesdropped her if you want. The contents of Emily's call with Nolan are totally broadcast material too. I had to do something for her birthday. ]
