Okay, I am really tired of authors who characterize a character as being totally socially incapable and then proceed to narratively browbeat it into that character that they are a bad person and thank god this other character likes them or they would be alone forever. There's no lesson in how to be less socially incapable, just berating. It's like the author thinks their awkwardness is SO CUTE, but hates it all the same.
I just find that fucking obnoxious.
