Whoa. That sounds like one billion shades of awesome. The sense of alienation and wonder you convey reminds me a bit of my time in Africa, with a lot more pretty landscapes and monuments and kung-fu. At first I thought I'd postpone reading the whole massive wall of text until I had time, but then I started into the first paragraph and couldn't stop reading. Whoa!
ANOTHER buddy goes to China ! .. hehe... wow... thanks for sharin' the images n stuffs! ^v^
... the room DOES look swanky... but WOW.. I wonder if it's a Chinese thing to sleep on rocks? I have a friend from Taiwan who lives here in California, and one night we were up toooo late chatting, so I stayed over and he took the couch and offered me his bed.. it was like a PLANK. I was flabbergasted. Hard to get to sleep, but at least I didn't seem achey when I got up the next day.
Reading the rest of the diary now.. again, Thank You for such an extensive and wonderful travelogue! *wing HUGS*
Having lived overseas in foreign countries like Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, the trick is to NOT go on those tours. Do it yourself and stay off the beaten track and you'll enjoy it a lot more.
