TONIGHT!
so tonight is a big deal, man.
i am beginning a short story. it has been rather a long time since i've attempted this. i am nervous.
and because of the nervousness i am having a couple glasses of shirazzzzz.
i can be very ritualistic about the writing process sometimes. i sharpen my 3 pencils, make sure my space feels right, set my glass beside me, and put on whatever music i decide upon after searching endlessly for the perfect album for the night.
it's a glorious feeling beginning a new piece of writing.
it's akin to starting a new painting. that blank space, the possibilities... they are endless in some ways and yet there is the wonderful feeling that you have certain boundaries within which you must remain. with painting it is whatever you have decided to paint on, and writing, well, your boundary is words. but there is so much freedom. so much space to move around in. it's exhilarating really.
