This week I've finally gotten around to upgrading to Win7. The process was complicated by RAM failure, but I had the old memory from the system in a drawer, so I'm back up.
Today I should put the rest of the computer back together, but so far, I've gotten as far as downloading the update for Civ IV (the BTS expansion) so that it will work with Win7.
I also cooked a lot. I made a triple batch of scones for breakfast (a double of mixed berry and a single batch of chocolate chip) so that Maggs could take them with for the class she was teaching. They didn't eat them all so she brought the rest back.
We realized today that apparently it takes a minimum of three people in the house before we really start cooking (since we've been renting a room to P we've done a lot more cooking than usual).
P bought ribs (for tomorrow) and a pork loin. I split the loin in half and did a brown sugar/mustard/vinegar/cinnamon glaze on it in the slow cooker, and we had it with grilled asparagus, rice (we were going to have wild rice but forgot to start it, and had the white rice left over from making rice pudding), and brioche (baked as french bread-style loaves). The other half of the loin is cut into 1" thick butterflied pork chops, that are currently in the freezer awaiting their day.
P decided today that she wanted to make custard (and we let her), so desert was leftover scones split open and topped with the custard and with strawberries and blueberries (mixed with a little lime juice and Frangelico).
Later this week there will be something made with lots of leftover meat, as there are now two kinds of leftover roasts in the fridge, and there will probably be leftover ribs, and Monday will probably be Filet Mignon (and
Jim's still has 10-lb boxes of individually wrapped and frozen Filet Mignon on sale for $50-60/box).
