Last night I dreamed I was something like the foreign exchange assistant to the emperor for the summer... and the emperor was like 16 or something. But he died, and I got a vacation until they appointed the next emperor. Weird.
Anyway, a month from today I'll be heading back to America. Wow. There's a lot that has to happen between now and then... and a lot of it is packed into next week. Every day of the week, Monday through Saturday, there is either a final test (Monday and Friday), a test (Tuesday), a rather longish paper in Japanese due (Thursday), a speech (Wednesday), or a kanji test (Saturday)... except wait, I'm not going to be here Saturday, so I can probably take that afterwards. I don't think you lose 20% on kanji tests for taking them late, unlike normal tests.
But yeah, if I somehow survive the week I'll be shinkansen'ing down to Hikone to get out of Tokyo for the second time since getting here (Kamakura doesn't count, in my opinion), hang out with Priss, and see Star Wars Episode III! Today I was looking up stuff about Episode III on Japanese websites trying to find info about theaters/playtimes or whatever like they have in America... also downloading Star Wars music to my keitai. >=D In doing so, I found out the names of all the Star Wars movies in Japanese... Episode I is ファントム・メナス (fantomu menasu, boring); Episode II is クローンの攻撃 (kuroon no kougeki); Episode III is シスの復讐 (shisu no fukushuu); Episode IV is 新たなる希望 (arata naru kibou); Episode V is 帝国の逆襲 (teikoku no gyakushuu); and Episode VI is ジェダィの帰還 (jedai no kikan). Irrelavent, because I love long Japanese words: 帰還不能限界点 (kikanfunougenkaiten, the point of no return). I'm so excited about seeing Episode III finally though... so weird to think that I'm just now going to be seeing it when everyone elsewhere in the world has known what happens for months, especially after being the midnight showing type for the first two. But yeah... rah!
Back to where I started, in a few minutes it'll be July, the last month I see in Japan. I think I'm going to be happy to be going back, but at the same time it'll be boring to be back in a country that speaks my own language. After spending 4 months learning Japanese, there'll suddenly be absolutely no need or opportunity to use it, and that'll feel weird. I wonder if I'll accidentally say something in Japanese sometime... it's possible, considering I find myself thinking in Japanese like half the time now... maybe I'm getting stupider, thinking in a language where what I can think about is fairly limited based on vocabulary. Then again, I have enough vocabulary to think about most anything in Japanese, just not in very precise terms. And when thinking, I can think things in Japanese that I couldn't say in Japanese, just because it doesn't matter if the Japanese is correct when I'm thinking, because I know what I mean. *cough* Oops, that was a rather odd aside. Anyway now for more... stuff. Yeah, homework.
