Proud to be an Amurken

I remember a certain Lee Greenwood song gaining popularity during "Desert Shield/Storm."
I was in 7th grade. My dad was mobilized to go to the Gulf. We (my family) went to lots of parades, prayer circles, and such, tied yellow ribbons, and heard that blessed anthem regurgitated each time. And each time we consumed it wholesale, teary eyed, and publically emotional. Even to a fairly intelligent 7th grader that song meant something, maybe cause it reminded me of my old man who hadn't been home in 6 months.

I thought of Lee Greenwood, and eversomomentarily Tobey Keith yesterday as I was on patrol, realizing I was on the eve of my country's Independence Day.

And this one is for all the fairly intelligent and below 7th graders out there. Your beloved country had its sacred defenders rounding up random males between the ages of 14 and 40 yesterday. My platoon alone detained 11, and escorted at least 40 to our holding area. We put a boot in their ass, its the Amurken way? C'mon! Then an adjacent unit set fire to some brush which spread pretty quick and cut us off from our platoon, not to mention nearly setting my truck on fire.

Anyone wanna trade conciences? Maybe I could get a more mercenary or gestapo-ish model.

I destroyed quite a bit of private property today, mostly car tires and such due to a change in ROE that warrante, nay encourages, warning shots. Most people would put them in the dirt or on the street, but fuck me if I'm doing that in a fucking city...someones just gonna have to pay the Michelin Man.

Happy Independance Day!!!111!!one!!
