...When he was a captain, he treated us like a family. He was always there to talk to and confide in, no matter how trivial it might have been.

I don't think he invented that persona fully. I don't know what changed, and I still don't understand why, but the person I used to call captain-- I can't say he never existed. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else, though.

I try, but... I don't know. I say I want to become stronger, but I doubt I'm really strong enough for the position I already hold.

I guess I won't know until I try, though.

As much as I hate to say it, strength is mostly smoke and mirrors anyways. There's more to it than just being able to whap your enemy over the head, and I think whatever that 'more' is, you've got it.
