To Her Credit

I have to give Gov. Palin some credit, it takes a lot of guts and self-confidence to go on SNL, especially when you have been the subject of their mockery for weeks.  Of course there's a thin line between guts/self-confidence and ignorance/stupidity.

I just watched the clips from this weeks SNL and they are hilarious (go to the NBC site and watch the "Cold Open" and the "Update:  Palin Rap." If you have not seen them).  I was impressed that she was able to be a strong and quiet presence in the face of obvious jokes at her expense.

I was also impressed that she submitted to being verbally abused by Alec Baldwin on national live television.  Of course in her other television appearances, those where she speaks...words...she does not come off nearly as well as she did on SNL, quietly taking abuse and even playing along.

Of course if I was a candidate for the VP position and I was on television and always came off poorly; perhaps appearing unqualified for the position, or appearing to have similar qualities of a cult leader or hate-organization key-note speaker, or just came off plain stupid, maybe subjecting myself to mockery would actually make me come off as a semi-normal human being, even perhaps a decent person with a good sense of humor.

If that is the case, if Sarah planned this to improve her image, then I have to admit, Gov. Sarah Palin is not an idiot.  Of course if she was an idiot I could excuse her actions, I might even feel sorry for the way she has shamelessly been paraded around and the scrutiny that had befallen her and her family.

However, if she is not an idiot then I can only assume one thing: Gov. Sarah Palin is evil and the harbinger of destruction.
