IMAX Theater

Saw "Dark Knight" on the IMAX and it was great...then the movie was over.

During the credits, after most of the theater had left, two women 45-55 years of age started to attack a younger woman around 17 years old.  They were pulling and pushing her all over the theater and she was obviously upset and frightened by what was going on.  The teenagers working at the theater obviously did not know how to handle the situation.  So I decided to go over and help at least until the theater manager or police showed up.

Well it seemed that the younger girl (who was there with two friends) was talking during the movie (not hard to believe) and one of the older women claimed the younger girl spit on her hair.  That led the older women to hit and then attack this girl, because they "did not want her to get away."  They older women wanted the cops there - because obviously the cops would arrest the crying 17 year old and not the middle-aged women who were attacking her.

I was able to gently hold the older women, who was doing most of the attacking and talk her down, or at least contain her for a few moments until the manager showed up.  Unfortunately her friend, the other older woman, was just as high strung as her and she started to go after the younger girl.  Well I can handle one psycho, but its hard to deal with two at the same time by yourself.  Thankfully the manager and police showed up and they were able to take it from there.

I'm not sure how it ended but no outcome could have sated the irrational rage these older women were feeling.  Most likely they got brought to the police station for assault, as there were a dozen theater employees as witnesses.  One of the women claimed she was a parole officer, you would think she would know something about the law.

You have to wonder what happened.  Maybe work has been stressful, maybe this was her only day off in a month, maybe her husband left her, maybe her mother died, or maybe her "Special K" was ruined by spoiled milk.  Either way there is not justification for that kind of outburst, that kind of rage.  If only people learned how to live with and use their anger the world might be a little better place.  This was all over a teenager being a teenager, what if one of the older women had a hand gun in her purse, how would the situation have ended?

Good times.
