Tops and Bottoms
when it comes to the tops and bottoms signs i hate to be the only guy who has a disagreement with everybody... i do agree that they are fairly harsh... but didn't paul say that "knowing the TERROR of the Lord we pursuade men" ? that kinda tells me that people should be "scared" into christianity in a sense... i mean... personally that's what got me... i am afraid of going to hell... i am afraid of God's wrath...
it's like this... really... if we were on an airplane... and someone came up to you and said "put this parachute on... it will make your flight better and you will have a great time with it"... you might put it on... but later after several people have stared at you and laughed at you... you would throw it down in anger because you had been told a lie...
however... if someone came to you and said "at any moment you are going to be thrown from this airplane. i want you to have this parachute so that you won't go splat on the ground. i care about you and want to help you" you wouldn't take that parachute off for anything, even if it was uncomfortable, because at any moment you could be put in a life-threatening situation
secondly... if someone came up to you and simply told you about this cure for a terrible disease and how you should take it... if you didn't know you had the disease... it would offend you...
however... if someone came to you and said "i found out that you have this terrible disease" and they discribed everything about it and how aweful it was... and then spent 5% of that time telling you about the cure... you wouldn't hesitate to get that cure...
i mean... yeah... God's love is the key to it... but Jesus spoke more of Hell than he did Heaven... he spoke more of God's wrath than anything... and so... i feel that we should pursuade men "knowing the TERROR of the Lord"... correct me if i'm wrong...
