Karin: When the house is messy I feel “bleccchhh.” After the house is clean I feel “woooo.”
Duane: That’s a German thing.
Karin: Duane, don’t say that. Don’t hang that moniker on me.
Duane: But that’s why you’re so organized.
Karin: Stop saying that.
Duane: Ja! Vee arrrrgh GERMAN!
Karin: Why do you have to say that??
Duane: What should I say, that Germans are great scholars and thinkers? Be proud to be an organized German. Ha Ha Ha Ha Hee Hee.
Karin: Annie, when I first came to America, I would have liked to have been able to say “Oh yes, I’m from Sweden,” or “Oh, I’m from Norway.” When people found out I was German, I was embarrassed. It has ameliorated itself by now, but that’s how I felt then.
10 minutes later there is controversy about rearranging the two cars in the driveway so that one car may be removed from the garage so that they can go deliver flyers. It’s street sweeping day.
Karin: OK, I have a plan! We’ll move the two cars onto the street and then take the car from the driveway and put it on the street and move the other cars back to the driveway.
Duane: My God, we’re not planning the invasion of Europe!
More arguing ensues.
