I thought for sure, since people told me that it was the case, that this week with the Rolling Stones was going to be hell, but it turned out to be much better then I thought. I was running around like crazy last week for the band and for last minute details for our regional meetings. On Sunday afternoon, I come home to an email from our sales rep Beau, who told me that Ron Wood went into my Strawberries in Downtown Crossing and was impressed by the displays! I thought that maybe someone from management would go in or something, but not an actual member of the band! Beau actually gave me a much needed compliment saying, "great work with visibilty Melissa." This was much needed because if you read my livejournal you'll know that my boss gave my co-worker 1/2 credit for the work I did. Anyway, when I got to the meetings at the Paradise Lounge, I walk in and our regional director says "there's our superstar!" The first thing I thought, "oh no, what did I do now...?" But I went over to him and Dominic the VP of sales for Virgin. David said, "Great work on visibility. Dominic sent the email to the sales coordinator who sent it out to the whole company!" Dominic thanked me and I in turn thanked him. I did not hear ONE negitive thing about my work or anything about the Boston area. It was fantastic!
Then, at lunch today David got up again to thank the Boston team for all their hard work and Joan (my boss, who was the one that didn't give me full credit) leans over to me and whispers, "he means you." I couldn't believe it. I've never had such a good week at EMI, this is what it should be like all the time.
I'm going to NJ this weekend to hang out with Pete, he has practice this Friday, so he can't come up here, maybe I'll go hang out with some co-workers of mine. The following weekend is when we go camping BUT, my friend Nicole just told me that her friend who manages some club in NY asked her to come down to see The Used and she asked me to come along. How could I say no to an invitation to that? I haven't seen them forever, that will be so great...This is turning out to be a good month. Except I have to fly to LA on 9/10...I'll deal with that later...
