hi guys! been in new york for the past few days! really fun, will be back soon. the hotel computer is so slow i could cry about it but the tears would evaporate before this entry would get posted.
we went to send off my brother to university, he's now in his freshman orientation outdoor trip or something. the campus at princeton was beautiful! it's a gigantic castle. even his dorm room looks amazing. i took a load of pictures with a crappy film camera sans flash, hope they come out!
actually i prefer columbia by far. this is probably because it's flawless in every sense of what i want out of a university. in fact typing in "columbia" right now yields an instant dotted red line that appears beneath it, telling you to capitalize the C. capitalization? it must be important!
when we went to visit i think i just dropped my jaw and drooled for a few hours. probably just like all of the other visitors did before me, which is how the hudson river was formed.
i hope i am not sounding like a really bad university advertisement.
but yeah, it is actually quite impossible to get in. applying is a crap shoot, because having the scores and the internships and the leadership and the varsity letters and all of that bullshit still doesn't guarantee an acceptance.
ivy leagues are kind of like celebrities, or really great photography or the lottery or finding a perfect lover, except doing so in REM sleep.
so, so very inviting, and yet so unattainable.
it is cruel. and also periwinkle is a dumb word and i hate that color, so maybe columbia isn't even that great anyway.
