oh the coolness of NORML

today, we had a guest speaker, Irv Rosenfeld at NORML. He's a government-funded, medical marijuana patient. He is legally allowed to smoke medical cannabis anytime, anywhere without consequence. He has a rare bone disorder (one i cannot pronounce or spell) where he grows tumors at the end of all of his long bones - he has over 200 in his whole body. he is in constant pain and, though marijuana gives him no euphoria whatsoever, he says it calms his disease and makes getting through the day manageable. this guy was diagnosed at 10 and told that he wouldn't make it past thirteen - he's now going strong at 40 years of age. impressive, eh? i thought so - he made it perfectly obvious to the government that he is a threat to their theory - that smoking pot makes you lazy and lethargic. in some cases, this can be true, but irv is a very successful stockbroker and he smokes pot all day long. he gets 300 joints issued to him each month in a tin! he smokes about 12 a day, which is more than most of us can say. he basically always needs it in his system so he can do daily things we take for granted - such as sitting for more than 10 minutes, which the pain in his legs makes him unable to do.

anyway, it was a neat experience. oh AND he didn't fail to make a big deal about how he was gonna medicalize in front of our University Center when the meeting was over. we all stood around, watched, and cheered. yeah, the police came when the crowd got big and irv had to bust out credentials and shit, but it was all good in the end.

meh...on other notes - to lame people who leave anonymous comments: just leave it alone, you don't know anything about me - this is evident in your ignorance - so just stop.

i miss my friends - 22 days before i'm home for good, kids!
