Seriously ready to give up on certain aspects of the shop.....

While I still love running the comic shop, it's becoming glaringly apparent that people are taking their business elsewhere. Not all of their business... comic sales are relatively steady, toy sales are above average for this time of year. It's really just one thing, but it's a big one, one that is weighing on me lately more and more ( Read more... )

This is going to be rough to say, but barring serious changes, I think you should put an end to tournaments. Aside from a handful of people, you know as well as I do people take it for granted. A few come for the fun, but a few people come just to get the prizes and sell them somewhere else (and that's on top of getting the kits somewhere else in the first place).

I'll admit, it was a great deal more fun to come and play prior to the hiatus, but that's certainly not been the reason I've not been in to take part. I've literally been swamped with various things going on. I do wish I could come in more, and I still try to plan a trip in well in advance when I can. I also enjoy judging events...but I know the headaches you've had since the player group has changed a fair bit since the days of Crisis and such.

To be honest, I've bought product elsewhere. Friends of mine get a ridiculous deal when they buy two cases. They then sell me a brick at a quarter of their cost. It's a figure I don't know that I could get from you, and to be perfectly honest I would really feel like a jerk asking for that kind of deal. At a time where my "fun money" is limited, I can't help but be swayed that way as well. Having said that, I've budgeted to buy Blackest Night from the store, and still continue to plug Retro for Clix. Both buying, and playing.

I started playing Clix more from a collection standpoint, and it was you and the store that got me playing the game more. Your tournaments were always fun and interesting and most of the players were decent guys to be around. Some of that still remains, some of it has deteriorated in my eye but at the end of the day the decision really is yours to make. I think a few people will be disappointed (including this one), but only a handful will understand your decision and the rest will realize what they had when it's gone.
