Sarcasm: There's a Right Time for It

Jun 09, 2011 03:49

Let me start off by saying I am a very laid-back person. But once something or someone raises my hackles...oh, it's definitely ON. Nothing irks me more than people who think that by being sarcastic they somehow have the upperhand of a situation. If you do plan to use sarcasm, make sure you have all your facts straight because it will definitely go kaboom (and deservingly so) in your face when it turns out you are wrong.

I appreciate sarcasm provided it is done right and at the appropriate time. One of the reasons why sarcasm already has a bad rap as the lowest form of wit is because so many people use it as a bullying tool. You backhandedly insult someone while stroking your own ego, which, I may add, is already flagging since you have stooped down to this level. This is a coward's way out. Have some balls. If you're going to insult someone, do it directly minus the superfluousness.
