"If you are between the ages of 18 and 24 this is for you! We're all looking for new friends who can hold a conversation and have some life experience."

This statement boggles my mind on two levels.
1. I feel as though I should just give up and start digging my grave, because clearly I've almost reached the end of my life cycle. I'm 25, rather soon to be 26. Shoot this old mare, she ain't what she used to be.
2. Some life experience. I think each age group laughs at the previous one, but surely the claim about 18-24 year olds as a collective having life experience is preposterous to all age groups. High school is meaningless. College is meaningless. I'm sure when I'm done with graduate school it too will be meaningless. And I don't mean that they weren't worthwhile, but by comparison to life? So tiny.

Am I just bitter? I think this statement is almost endearing. And I know I'm being condescending and I'm only 25, but--I realize that to talk about life experience as an age range, especially that age range is utterly silly. I think I'm amused, but I also think I'm a little sick of youth culture.
