Also, a big preliminary fuck you to Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin. No really. Fuck you.
Also, if Oregon passes parental notification Measure 43, I'm going to be very upset. A 48-hour waiting period and parental notification before an abortion. Right, good idea, because that 48 hours is really going to give time long enough for true reflection on the consequences of abortion. Please, can we give these 15-18 year olds one more fucking hurdle to jump through in the midsts of one of the biggest crisis they'll probably face in their lives? Can we make it just a little bit harder on them? If they haven't already told their parents, what is parental notification going to do? Notification sounds pretty damn different than permission. Does that mean all girls have to do is send their parents a memo? By the way, I'm having an abortion, I hear they tickle. How is this measure anything but one more step towards taking the right of abortion away from women?
Once again, I myself am pro-life, but I cannot fathom being arrogant enough to think I could legislate based on religious/spiritual/personal beliefs.
