ladies, never lose composure
Another update today, haha. I wanted to write about all the funky movies I've seen lately! So I've been downloading and watching a lot of movies of late. Most of them are the big Oscar contenders, so far I've seen: Changeling, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler. Here's the lowdown:
Changeling: Okay I hate Angelina Jolie with a passion, but I utterly loved this movie. It was quite chilling but I love a good drama. Her son goes missing and then turns up a few months later... only it's not actually her son. Creepy. But it's a really good story. Her acting was awesome too.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: I've been dying to see this movie for the past year, the plot sounds incredibly intriguing plus I love me some Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett. What can I say? This movie is epic. It's nearly three hours long but it's absolutely fantastic and will have you crying. There's one scene near the end that had me in tears =( I don't think I could watch it again coz it left me quite scarred to be honest, it was horribly sad.
Revolutionary Road: This is the movie that re-teams Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Aside from Leo's acting, I thought this movie sucked. The plot plodded along and just wasn't that compelling. Leo's acting was great though.
Slumdog Millionaire: This movie is just incredible. Utterly incredible. The way the story is told, it's so good. You really feel for this character and it's just such an amazing feel good film. It's full of drama and suspense and romance too. I loved it so much. I'm kind of torn between this and Benjamin Button for Best Picture.
The Wrestler: Given what this is about, I've been anticipating it and I was so excited to see it. It's a good film, but it's not what I expected. The acting was great, the plot was decent but I was underwhelmed. Not as good as Slumdog or Benjamin Button.
I'm almost certain Benjamin Button & Slumdog will be up for Best Picture, but I don't know which one I would want to win. I loved them both so much. I really, really think Brad should finally win the Best Actor award, he was incredible. And Cate Blanchett is always fucking amazing, I want her to win Best Actress so bad, I can't believe she's never won it.
