Life Update

I'll post a life-update, seeing as everyone else has this week (it would seem).

I love the fact that NCF is a pass/fail school. I'm learning so much more than I did in high school. There are still tests and quizzes, but it's nice not having to worry what the grade is, necessarily. Like, I did fairly poorly on my Chem test- 65%. BUT, I still passed the test because (as my professor wrote on it), "You understand the concepts, and how to do the problems, but your numbers are a little bit off and you need to check your significant figures." So...I don't feel all that bad. Now I know what I need to fix, and now I know what I need to change for the future.

I'm busy as all hell, though. I'm technically taking six different courses- some are of different lengths/weights than others. And I have the work for those separate classes, too. Music Theory is my most time-consuming class by far and it's also VERY hard (for me). MT meets five times a week, plus I basically have to do compositions for each class. Unfortunately, the program used for MT is GarageBand- Macs only. I go over to my friend's house to do the assignments. Going to his house is fun- I get to spend time in a "house" and away from the dorm and I get to play with his adorable kitten.

I'm also working at the Marine Science lab on campus. I'm very happy that I'm doing so- I'm learning all sorts of skills and knowledge that you don't really learn in class and that I will need, especially if I want to be a marine animal vet. Yesterday I learned how to change water in a thousand-gallon tank and how to identify parasitic worms on crayfish (<---really gross, for the record). Working there is awesome, especially in comparison to what I used to do. There is no customer ass-kissing, no "service". I get to feed/play with fish ("play" is relative, of course) and just generally take care of them. Science is fun.

I'm going to have to cut this off now. I've got to do some psych homework and then get ready for my marine bio. class.

With Love and Heavy Metal,
Karen

P.S. Not that anyone cares besides Jason, but the new Arch Enemy album is great.
