I wasn't going to write a separate entry on bin Laden's send off to paradise via the SEALs. (Actually, I'm thinking he'll have a different destination, but I don't have a say.)
But what the hell, standing post on Sepember 11, 2001, watching the second jet liner smack into the South Tower in real time, is burned forever in my memory.
I'll speak my piece.
I can sum things up fairly succinctly:
A) I'm very glad he's dead.
B) From a global perspective, his death will make no significant difference in terrorist operations.
Well, other than to make our lives more interesting. It has been noted that our finally capping this dirt bag will inflame his followers and like-minded subhumans**. This is true, but a dispassionate review of the last decade shows it's all to easy to inflame them. The sun coming up, McDonalds, and another season of "American Idol" all list in the top ten reasons his "herd" decides to slaughter more innocents in the name of their perverted cause.
C) I always felt we made a mistake by making him the "Boogey Man" of terrorism, but no one lets me set national security policy. He could afford to finance his bloodshed, and was a leader; but it was very clear, very quickly, his organization would not rise or fall solely on him.
D) I'm a bad man. Bad because I'm rather smug that we did him in CQB* vs. a drone strike or something more technical and impersonal. That way the motherfucker knew *exactly* who was capping his ass. I bet it pissed him off. I can only guess what the next-to-last thing through his sick mind was. I hope it was a combination of wild surprise and anger that we were punching his ticket.
E) Were I the Prez, or Secretary of State, I'd have me some *serious* questions for Pakistan. Homeboy been living at (or out of) those digs for several years and y'all didn't know? I got a bridge I'll sell you...cheap. I wouldn't bother calling President Asif Ali Zidari up and asking him difficult questions. It'd be a personal visit, and I'd be all up in his grill. (Probably why I shouldn't aspire to either of those positions.)
At any rate, Osama's dead. If nothing else, there's one less, rich leader of these subhumans** wasting oxygen.
*CQB = Close Quarters Battle, mil-speak for up-close and personal.
**For anyone who doesn't really know me, the "subhuman" reference has nothing to do with his, or his followers'', ethnicity or putatve religious beliefs. It has *everything* to do with him being a murderous thug, and a leader of murderous thugs.
