Bottle dodging at the corner

Jun 01, 2006 23:13

Walking to pick up some Thai food tonight one of the neighborhood's professional drinkers by the liquor store got into a drunken altercation with someone who looked like he was just passing by. If you know Queen and Brock, I'm talking about the tall guy, not the big guy in the scooter.

Tall guy was very upset that 'someone' had drank his beer, and was convinced that it was the random guy who was walking by. Even though the passerby tried to convince him that the bottle was already empty when he walked by tall guy was having none of it. After chasing passerby across the street to where I was walking it seemed to be over, but I glanced over my shoulder to see tall guy running and winding up to throw the bottle. As I was between tall guy and passerby I ducked as the bottle went flying past my head and broke on the corner of Queen St.

Pissed off, I turned to tall guy and said that throwing the bottle was "fucked up" and that he could have hit me and I had nothing to do with whatever beef was between them. Tall guy said he missed me on purpose, but when I said "okay, why don't you go and calm down?" he looked like he was ready to get into a confrontation with me. Screw that. I walked away, and was lucky tall guy was out of projectiles.

I've never had a problem with the guys on the corner before, but even though tall guy was loaded and thus didn't have the best judgement hucking glass bottles at people (even if he missed it still broke on a busy sidewalk) was a pretty asshole move.
