TTC strike, 30+C, and beer.

So, for those of you who don't leave the house (or live in Toronto) today saw a "work stoppage" by the TTC and the ATWU. There's some debate if this was a wildcat or a lockout, but the labour board has declared it illegal (no surprise). The union made an offer where they'd return to work, but TTC management rejected it ( Read more... )

Good strategy. I learned the hard way that biking around to picket lines in rush hour and Toronto smog to nurse nostalgia for 1995/96 wildcat transit strikes is a very bad idea. Now I am trying to cool my apartment by drinking beer cause my fan is broken. And L lords it over me that he has been eating Dutch Dreams ice cream and reading labour/le travail all day - and I am like, well, I have nostalgia for France (and that sounds so upper class and not me).

Yes, I am reading your blog.
I hope we are not blog antagonists.
I am slightly sad knowing this wildcat strike won't transform into any broader struggle and David Miller and Adam Giambrone are such jerks.

Yes it was a good call. Except that I am now out of beer. I am almost motivated to go and drink on a bar's patio somewhere in the next couple of days. If anyone wants to join me let me know. Have your got your OSAP $ yet? Let's drink in Parkdale while we still can!

France looks so much better in so many ways. Fuck Toronto.

My OSAP is late, which is crazy stressful and only bearable cause of the generous working-class kid with cash flow (always be dating one when depending on OSAP). OSAP is a terrible, bureaucratic nightmare. But I could drink in Parkdale, possibly at the Drake?

And yeah, France.
The left can discuss the anti-CPE mobilization as signifying failure.

The Drake isn't in Parkdale, it's still on the right side of the tracks. I'm thinking either the caddy or mitzi's. Let me know when you want to get together.

The left would always rather have a heroic defeat than a victory that falls short of revolution.

Speaking of the CPE, here's my current desktop:
