This journal used to house the desiccated remains of some truly awful 'original' fiction. This is no longer the case. If you hadn't read it, consider yourself fortunate. If you did, I apologize. I'm working on my writing... but elsewhere, mostly. What little I have written and posted since those singularly vile ventures is tucked away in my ( Read more... )

Wow - I'd sort of given up hope at ever seeing you around these parts again! I'm glad you're writings still up even if it's hidden, and would love to see anything you decided to write and post in the future. Any chance of further updates, here or at your personal journal? Or is this an "I'm-done-with-LJ" goodbye?

Nah, I think I might get back to LJ. I was kind of messed up last year...and most of the year before that... but I'm in a better place now. Plus, senior year, less homework, less depression, less chance of LJ eating my life.

Hope all's well with you. I do feel genuinely bad about kinda ditching everything. Actually, not everything--I did lurk in places, metaquotes especially. I really want to get back to posting; it was incredibly cathartic.

I missed you, so I'm glad to hear that. =) Also glad to hear you're in a better place.

I'm okay. Graduated as one of three class valedictorians, going to Pomona College in California, writing fanfic and arting and trying to stay on top of stuff. What are your future plans?

Holy snap! You're wicked smart. I'd be jealous if I weren't so damn thrilled for you. My plans are to hopefully beg, borrow, or steal my way into Boston U. In the likely event that I am rejected for lousy grades and bland heritage, I'm aiming for any other East Coast college that'll take me. (My family issues have gotten worse over the years. Think Roald Dahl colliding with Days of Our Lives in a pileup with The Sopranos.) I have no idea what I'm going to study, but I would like to at least minor in Russian studies. I've been working on learning it from my family... so far I can stutter out some halting, piecemeal vocabulary and cuss out anyone in earshot.

I have some writing--fanfic and otherwise--stashed in my Memories. Check under "My Writing", if you want to see. The prompts are mostly clutter from the prompt_a_day community, which was pretty much my only regular LJ interaction. The real stuff's mostly at the bottom. If you like Avatar, I am particularly proud of "Yours."

Boston U huh? Did your family stay in California, or did you move to the east coast, or do you want to move to the east coast to get some distance? If you don't mind my asking. If you do, tell me to STFU or ignore me. <=)

I'll definitely have a look once I have some time - I'd be delighted to look. I quite enjoy Avatar, although most of my fannish activity these days is centered around Blade of the Immortal, Animorphs, and a very very tiny splishy-splashy corner of Naruto, centering around two immortal psychopaths and their target. Hakuna matata, no apologies necessary. We're still in California--same town, even! I'm about 150 miles from you. It's just that my family's been getting increasingly strange. I need space. Preferably whole timezones' worth of space, as my dad is a pilot, with a plane, and long distance has got to be really LONG before he's forced to stop planning day trips on zero notice.

Oh, Animorphs. The devourer of countless hours of my elementary school years. (I see you a '90's book series and raise you a TV show: Gargoyles. It enexpectedly re-stole my heart months ago and I've been subliminally pushing it ever since.) Anyway, I really wish I hadn't caved and let my mom donate all my Animorphs books away. There's a living, breathing fandom still? Excellent, I'll start with you. ;) And Blade of the Immortal... have not heard of that, but I am intrigued. Very intrigued. Naruto I have not gotten into because I can't find decent-quality episodes online.

ICON TWINS I gotta say

and the Animorphs fandom is still rather active, really! It's really going on quite well, considering that the series is years gone. There are several people on animorphs who will send .pdf or .txt files of the books if you've lost yours. Check there ( ... )

:) Visser Three is one of those villains who are far more fun as incompetant morons than evil geniuses. But about the books--seriously? Wonderful! You are a lifesaver. *hugs*

That sounds really, really cool and I would love to read it if scans exist. I've gotten completely addicted to the Fullmetal Alchemist manga--I think they're at Chapter 87 now, I've fallen a bit behind--and it's much like how your Blade of the Immortal sounds. Very intelligent, beautifully written and drawn, and although occasionally there are some extremely graphic scenes, there are also some very, very moving ones. Witness the fandom tagline: "We make you love them, then they die." I have the link for the scans stashed somewhere, if you're interested. If you aleady don't like it, that's cool, different strokes and all that.

hints of things that could have been really awesome in the hands of a different manga-kaDude, I understand you completely. Most of my favorite Stargate authors are all about quietly reforming a decent episodic series into a more ( ... )

I honestly love Visser 3 a lot, even with all his shouting and idiotic posturing. I ESPECIALLY love competent!calculating!Esplin from the Chronicles books. He's such an interesting villain, taken in that light.

Actually, I always loved the Yeerks. They're one of my favorite parts of the series, the bad ones and the good ones.

Here are some BOTI scans. If you like it, consider joining swordpainting too! *shameless plug* I really adore the series, but you've got to give it a little while to get off the ground - in the first volume the manga-ka is still sort of finding his footing and his voice. The style of the story changes a LOT after the first book, which is to be brutally honest a little typical, almost a monster-of-the-week format. The later books get much deeper, much more complex, and much LESS episodic. I hope you'll give it a chance! :D ( ... )
