haha, well I suppose those things do happen.
Random crimes are common in all cities-- but if you compare Seoul to other major cities, the crime rate is so low.
Burglary and pick-pocketing usually tends to happen near tourist ares (especially near Yongsan where the military bases are), so just keep your belongings close to you (like if you have a purse make sure you hold it in front of you, not at your side)....but I haven't heard too many stories about pick-pocketing.

Mugging and then sexual assault usually only take place in the nightlife districts, so as long as you steer clear from them at night time I think you should be fine. During the night time, I find Seoul to be pretty safe, but if you are worried then be sure to stay in well lit, tourist areas.

I am probably the furthest from Korean looking you can get =__= and I lived there or 6 years without anything happening to me~

As for recommendations~~
How long are you going to be in Seoul for? If I know how many days you have I can tell you the must see places ^___^

(also, did you manage to get a concert ticket??? That's really great!)

Aaaah I see I see *nods nods*
it's such a relieve to know that Seoul is pretty safe and all :) can't ask for more :)
I am fortunate enough to lay my hands on the ticket (I found the site quite intriguing. The first time I tried to purchase only 1 ticket the system won't let me, then I had to buy 2 and then cancel later on -___-") I think they will have the third round of ticket selling since the elevated seats haven't goes on sale yet :)
I am planning to be there for 4 nights and 5 days :)
anything would be great (and I am drooling for the strawberry things you posted before~)

Huh, Huh....so many places for you to gooooo T_____T
This is probably going to be the longest comment ever. Sorry >< I'll just give you a couple of places that might not be mentioned in guide books.

haha, well those strawberry carts are really random >_< They're never in the same place!!
But there is a permanent Dalki cart in the Ssam ji Gil (쌈지길) mall in the Insadong (인사동) district.
Speaking of which, Insadong is just really pretty in general.
It's one of my favorite places in Seoul....but that's just because I'm really interested in art and it's known as the "artsy" district. There are a lot of antique shops, traditional crafts, non-expensive jewelry, cute souvenirs and things like that.
Plus it's not in most guide books, I think. You can get their on the subway; take the Orange Line #3 to Anguk Station and it's around 5 minutes away.

Um...if you like to shop for clothes and are looking for good, but cheap clothes then I recommend Ehwa Women University street (that is the name of the subway stop, green line #2, exit number 2). They have a looooot of great shopping and people there speak english ^^

Namsam Tower. It's one of Seoul's greatest landmarks and you really shouldn't miss it. I know that all guide books have it, but it is kind of difficult to find/get to if you don't go in a cab T___T
I don't know if your guide book tells you how to get there, but if it doesn't then let me know and I will give you a detailed description~

Oh, and You HAVE to go to the Hello Kitty Cafe. it's so cute ^^
it's in hong dae and you take the subway line 2, Hong Ik University exit. (and then in the station take exit 5). From there you take an immediate left and walk into this park near dunkin donuts. Then you turn left from there and walk straight into the main street of Hong Dae's Fashion street (also a great place for shopping). The cafe will be on the first or second left turn on the main street (it's realllly pink and has this big bow. haha, so it's hard to miss)

hahaha, okay. I will stop now ><
But if you ever need any more information about Seoul just let me know.
OHHH, and also if think you might have time/want to go see MNet Countdown, let me know and I'll tell you how you can get in ^___^

*huggles you*
when is Mnet countdwon filming? O__O I'd love to go see that XDD
Really looking forward to go to Hello kitty cafe~ :D
The guide book does not describe how to get to Namsan tower in detail T__T it only says take train number # and then exit in number # -___-" Namsan Tower is the one with many locks is it? O__O
and then, what is the significance of the exit in subway sta? if I don't get the exit right, i most probably will get lost? O__O
I looooove clothes~ gonna make sure to visit the Ehwa Woman Univ ^__^ is the place easy to spot?

How is the taxi fare there? is it expensive?

And how to buy subway's ticket?

Thank you so much *smooches*

Mnet Countdown films every Thursday. The admitance time is 4-5 pm, but you'll need to get there pretty early in the morning (10 am at the latest) if you want to get a tag to enter.
It's the only weekly show that you don't need to be a fanclub member to go into, but they only have around 200 tags per filming, so you have to get there early to get one.
If you are going to be there on a Thursday and think you will be free, then let me know and I'll give you details on how to get your tag ^^

Well, each subway station has multiple exists. Usually finding a specific place is a lot easier if you know which exit to take. They have signs for each exit in the stations, and underneath them they list the major attractions (like they'll say COEX mall, exit #2)

Ehwa street is pretty easy to find. There will be a loooot of people and clothing stalls everywhere ^^ As long as you go out the right exit, it will be right there~

As for taxis and subway fare; they are both fairly okay. I have a T-card (which residents or or residents can apply for) that I use for transportation fees, so I don't even notice the rates usually =_=
But I found this site for you that explains rates and transportation in Seoul: http://www.asianinfo.org/asianinfo/seoul/transportation_in_seoul.htm#Subway

Misarang Pizza (미사랑임실치즈피자) is in Isan. It has really great food! It's a bit far away (around 50-ish minutes away on the subway), but I would recommend it ^^ The BBQ chicken pizza is gooooood. And it's Su's favorite. hehe. The lines are always a bit long, though =(

Time out Gellato is in Apgujeong (which is really convenient). It's really good too!! haha. But I would advise you to get there by noon. They only have a certain amount of flavors per day, so if you get there too late then they may be out of certain flavors.

I don't think there is a kpop tour =_= at least not that I have heard of.

And Lotte World is really great!! I perfer a park called Ocean World that not many people know about...but it's 2 hours away from Seoul in Vivaldi Park=_= hehe, so I don't think you have time for that.
But Lotte World is fun. Their rides are good. There are roller coasters, even some water rides too!!
Shopping in the Lotte Mall that the park is located in is kind of expensive, so I wouldn't recommend that, but the rides themselves are worth checking out ;D

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask me.
I'm really glad that you might be going to Seoul. It's an awesome place and I'm sure you'll love it~

I am not going to be there until Thursday :'(

as for the pizza, is it 50-minutes by foot after subway? O__O

And what is this with Apgujeong? is it a famous district? O__O where is it anyway?

The Jamsil Olympic Stadium located in Songpa-gu no? near Lotte World?

As in accommodation where do you think I should stay (the area I mean, to make easier to move)?

Oh yeah, as for food, do they romanized the menu? and if I'm gonna order BBQ chicken how to say it? O__O in korean?

What's with COEX? is it a mall?
