How I spent my 40th Birthday

Jul 04, 2009 20:21

Credit and points to Robin and Tess for making my 40th calm, easy, and fun.
It was relaxing, and fulfilling.

Of course times being what they are, I needed to work that night, but from that evening, I believe the best line to avoid a fight was delivered by me...

Enter 5 knuckle dragging white trash gang-bangers to the bar I work at in Argentine...
I instruct them to leave, that they are not welcome, since the last time they tore up the bar in October.
This was met by anger, and profanity from the largest, and I'll wager, the least intelligent, and he squared off with me, daring me to 'throw him out'. he also pointed out his 4 friends who would also 'kick my ass'.
The bartender described my expression as one of dis dane and calm confidence.
As he proceeded to tell me how he was going to hurt me, I pointed out to him.
"Yes, you are going to kick my ass. However, we still will not serve you a beer, so you'll leave tired, AND thirsty..."
His friends, finding more humor in this than him, pulled him out of the bar and towards their cars.
I am guessing their Hitler Youth Meeting must have ran late, and they did not return after close, and kick my ass...

So I am now 40, and not, it seems, dead.
