Isaiah
Reading a new dinosaur book to Isaiah at bedtime. The book said that dinosaurs lived on earth millions of years ago. Isaiah: "So dinosaurs lived when people lived?" Me: "No, dinosaurs lived before people." Isaiah: "But that's not what you read." We went back and forth for a while until I backed up a few sentences and he said "See! It says they lived on Earth!" Me: "Oh! Well, we weren't always here. The dinosaurs were before us." Isaiah: "Oh..." Later in the book he says, "Mom, I hope I am still alive to see what animals come after us." Me: "That would be really cool." Isaiah: "So I need to be really healthy for that." Me: "Yeah." Isaiah: "So I think no desserts for... three weeks. Remind me." Me: "OK."
