Aww. Just when you think your guy has been swallowed whole by the army, he gets all attentive again. Riley sent a beautiful bunch of flowers, pink roses and daisies, and some purpley something. With the sweetest note ever attached to it saying how sorry he is that he hasn't had much time for us lately. Makes a girl all gooey in the knees. And kinda ( Read more... )

The question is how to put this delicately. “She raised some concerns which have been preying on my mind for a while also. About London,” I say quietly.

"Oh," I say. I hadn't known that Tara was worried about her, or I'd have taken her to meet London. "Really, Giles, I was worried about her at first, too...but she just uh, hurts bad things. Pretty much the same thing I do, only with more playing with bones and entrails." That should probably bother me more, but as long as she doesn't do it right in front of me we're good.

"Buffy, I realise that you may feel that we're going over old ground here - but London is a vampire. And, from what you have told me, clearly she is insane. Therefore you cannot claim that she is actually predictable - if there is even such a thing as a predictable vampire. And yet you seem happy to let her live on her own at the mansion with no supervision - who knows what she gets up to when you're not around and there really is no way you can play babysitter for her," I say, slightly exasperated.

"She plays with dolls, Giles, and eats ice cream," I tell him. I sigh. "She lived with some sweet little old lady for like twenty years--what do you want me to do with her? Move her in with me and Dawn and Willow and Tara and the gazillions of houseguests we seem to have all the time?" It occurs to me that Dawn's room is gonna be kind of empty soon, but I'm hoping she'll want to spend weekends at home sometimes.

"Buffy," I say, patiently. "Drusilla plays with dolls - Spike will tell you that much. I simply think we ought to treat her with caution - you say she only kills 'bad' people. Whose definition of 'bad' is she using?"

I ignore the remark about Drusilla; it's not like the comparison han't occurred to me. "Well, so far, she's using mine. I mean, okay, she has put the terminally ill and horribly insane out of their misery, and that's a debatable point, but as far as I know she hasn't been visiting the hospital here. Just patrolling with me. And sometimes Spike, and Angel, when he was in town. And all of us make decisions on who's good and who's bad every day, and I can't find anything wrong with how London's doing that." I fold my arms and add, "Why don't you go meet her and judge for yourself?"

"That was going to be my next suggestion," I assured her. "And you say that she only patrols with you - you are sure she's not going out on her own?" I ask, hoping that this is the case. If so I would feel a lot better about this entire situation.

I wrinkle up my face, thinking about that. "Well, I take her with me pretty much all the time, and I know she's been following Spike around some, too, she's picking up his...uh, colorful language. So I don't honestly think there've been a lot of nights where someone isn't around with her." I glance at him, a sudden suspicion in my mind. "Why, have there been a rash of vampire victims I'm not aware of?"

"No, no, not that at all. I just - I would feel better if a close eye was kept on her." I'm surprised that she seems surprised at my reaction. She must know how I feel about these things by now. I still don't feel wholly comfortable with Spike and Angel.

"Well, good," I say. "And see? She couldn't be killing regular people without some evidence being left behind, could she? And really, you need to meet her, she's really sweet." When she's not ripping people's bones out and writing things with them. "I know she's got a lot of strikes against her, Giles, but she did rescue Cordy from the sadistic victorian orderly. Guess I don't have a huge problem with her killing people like that."

"I understand what you're saying and if it is the case that she is harmless except for evil beings then I will be prepared to reconsider," which is as much ground as I am currently prepared to give on this subject.

"Great," I say, glad to be off the subject. I know how strange it is--I almost dusted her myself. "So did you find out any more about Jordy's weird behavior?" He'd said something about the tame wolf thing being related to a love spell, but I was fuzzy on the details.
