Aww. Just when you think your guy has been swallowed whole by the army, he gets all attentive again. Riley sent a beautiful bunch of flowers, pink roses and daisies, and some purpley something. With the sweetest note ever attached to it saying how sorry he is that he hasn't had much time for us lately. Makes a girl all gooey in the knees. And kinda ( Read more... )

Buffy called to say that she would be popping round this afternoon. I feel slightly guilty because I am aware that I should have called her to schedule a meeting some time ago and I really don't have a reason why I didn't do so. Time slips away from one so easily at times.

I knock at Giles' door, hoping I've actually caught him in. It's strange how my life right now is filled with all these piddley details that need taking care of and we keep missing each other. I tap my foot impatiently, waitig for him to come to the door.

Ah, that should be her now. I put down my book and walk to the front door. "Buffy, good, please, come in," I say, stepping aside so she can enter.

I walk in, go straight to the sofa, and plop down on it. "Giles, can you please, please tell me we don't have signs of any major catastrophe on the horizon so I can register for classes without worrying it'll be a big waste of time?" I pause for a breath, prop my chin on my hands and look up at him hopefully. "Oh, and how are you? Sheesh, I've been so busy keeping an eye on the Magic Box the last couple weeks I've barely seen anyone!"

I sigh. "I'd like to be able to give that guaruntee, Buffy, but around here I don't think it's wise." I smile slightly. "Have you ever considered distance learning?" And yes, that was meant as a joke. I for one would love to be present at her graduation - preferably without snake-demons this time - and I would rather she accomplished that before her sister.

"Yeah, I thought about it at one time, but y'know, even online classes have deadlines that I can't meet if I'm sucked into the 1830s or some weird dimension for half the semester," I complain. "I mean, apocalypse stuff and classes I could probably handle if the weird just came to me, instead of dragging me to it."

I twiddle my thumbs a little. "So, how 'bout that Amanda? It's been a long time since someone disarmed me like that. 'Course, I was holding back a little," I add defensively. Don't want him thinking I'm that rusty.

"Buffy, I am well aware that you are more than capable with a sword," I assure her. "Amanda's abilities only strengthen my believe that she is a potential slayer. The question which arises therefore is what should be done about it. By all rights, the Council should be informed, of course," I say, in a tone which makes it clear that I am not jumping at this course.

"Well, I told you how I felt about that. They'd get a hold of her and want to mold her into their little dream slayer," I say, with some disdain. "Plus, I'm really not sure it's a good thing to know ahead of time. I mean, I didn't, and look at me all twenty-three years old and not dead. Well, technically I was, but I mean, I don't think having the council all over me would have helped with the not getting killed either time."

I frown. "Only the thing is? I think her ability kinda weirds her out, so I'm wondering if it would help her to know...but argh, what a can of worms that is."

"Yes, exactly. There are, of course, pros and cons to each approach," I muse. "Though it may be worth discussing the situation with her, even if we choose not to involve the Council." I pause. "Does she know you're the Slayer?"

I shrug. "Yeah, I told her, when we were talking about her fencing and stuff. I figured Dawn could have told her, anyway, I think some of her other friends know, like Jordy. Uh, he is the werewolf, right? Does that like run in families?" I frown, puzzled by that. "But telling her she might be is way bigger and I don't wanna goof that up."
