[After a conversation with Sokka not long after they moved house, Zuko has decided it's finally time to decorate the house. He's been slowly purchasing everything thing he needs since the move, and today he is finally ready to start work on the decorations to his half of the house. There is a line drawn down the middle of the living area of the

Zuko? [Here we go a-wandering -- and she stops short when she sees him painting.] Oh. There you are. Why didn't you wait for me?
Reply
Sorry. I didn't realise you wanted me to wait. [Feel that awkward.]

I told you not to do anything, didn't I? [Wry smile. She takes a hesitant step into the bedroom.] What brought this on?

I'd already started then. [Zuko will look suitably sorry for not having listen to the beautiful Katara.]
A talk with Sokka a while ago. I've been finding furniture slowly since then. [He can rant to Katara about this, right? She'll listen and be as understanding as always.] No one else lives down this end of the house anyway. And it's better then Sokka's suggestions. Did you see that purple wall in the last house? And the mess? This way it will stay clean.

[She moves a little closer, eyes attempting to search into his noble and tormented soul.] But is that really why you decided to paint everything this color? Are you homesick, Zuko? Do you need to talk about it?

I'm not homesick. You're here aren't you? [And apparently that's true. Why would he be homesick? His love is here with him, what more does he need?] I just didn't want to live with Sokka's decorating skills

Oh... really? [Maybe he didn't mean to say it. Why would he? Go on and ask, Katara. Where's that courage of yours?] Well, I can't blame you for not wanting to suffer through more purple walls...
...but I can blame you for not waiting for me. [And she bends some of the paint right out of the bucket and onto the wall. Just like perfume bending.]

Well, I didn't know you were going to paint. [She bends some more onto the wall in a perfect even stroke.] If I had, I'd have made sure I'd be here. This cuts down the time... I don't mind helping!

[Should he tell her the rest. That he did it so she's have something nice to look at. That he got all this comfortable furniture as well? It was so hard being guarded around her like normal at the moment. He needed to pull himself together, start a fight with her, anything to help hold these feelings at bay again... and that paint lands on the wall, making him sneak another glance at her out the corner of his eye. She was beautiful, standing there helping him paint. What was he thinking about again? Katara. That's right.] Ah. Thanks. [That blush of his is going to start matching the red paint soon.]
