warning; uh. lmao. spoilers for ToS? A little sad. :C
optional dream effect; well, I mean, just feel what she feels as you go along? At the very end, feeling a sharp pain in your chest could happen too, if you so wished it.
"Sister!"
The voice of a young blonde boy carries out and through the ears of Martel, who sat at the base of a tree facing a great meadow. Her legs and arms felt sluggish and limp, but the view was so lovely that moving away from it didn't seem appropriate. Her hands fell into the soft blades of grass that brightened the ground while her eyes turned to face the sound that the other person was making.
peace.
"Sister, the treaty's been accepted!" The young boy could hardly contain his excitement. Her own eyes widened and she stood, using the tree as a prop to get on her feet. The treaty-- it was important, though the memories of it were somewhat vague-- had been accepted. Two sides would come together. Everything seemed to glisten more underneath the sweet rays of the eternal sun.
harmony.
Her eyes open again, and she's standing somewhere new- another field, but a nearby city is seen past a few hills. Underneath the tree sat two men- older than the soldiers that surrounded them. They wore different colors against their differently colored skin, but they weren't fighting. A man with red hair stood out behind them, his arms crossed judgmentally, but he had always been that way. The young blonde stood next to him with somewhat of an eager look on his face. Her hand is squeezed by the blue haired man standing beside her.
"Yuan," she whispered. He leaned down to listen to her, absorbing what she said like a plant absorbing water. "You don't have to stay here with me, I'll be alright. Kratos may need your help soon." Her lips curved into a smile. He looked down at her, almost as if he were hesitating-- he always did that when it came to leaving her by herself. Never treating her like a child, and yet always holding her hand. He was always like that.
love.
He left, joining the red haired man. They spoke briefly, and then watched the transaction between the older men with...somewhat large eyes-- unusual for both of them, but it was understandable. For so long they had strived for that moment. For so long had they lived to see equality between two sides come together. Relief seemed to wash over her like a never-ending river.
"I'll never--!!"
A loud voice caused a hush to shadow the meeting. A hand painfully gripped Martel's shoulder- her eyes widened in shock. She was on the ground in moments, trying to figure out what was happening- who this person was. She was afraid- body tensed up so tightly that not even her lips could move.
Maybe it was the fear of losing all that the four friends had worked for. All in a single instant.
"I'll never accept you dirty half-elves!" He screamed loudly. Her ears echoed his malice. The sun-- the eternal sun, who had so lovingly shone light across a meadow only minutes ago, now flashed the tip of a blade over her head. She could see them coming- the blue haired man and the blonde haired boy, but even in their greatest haste were they too slow.
Everything seemed to slow down- the blade fell in bursts of short and then quick. Her eyes shut quickly.
She was going to be killed.
Even though peace--
tragedy.
[ Martel jumps up like a springboard out of the bed, gripping the fabric on her chest tightly and biting her lip painfully. It hurts. It still hurts-- even with Yuan so close, and the community so comforting. Her erratic breathing makes her fingers tremble. ]
[ she was afraid-- anyone would be at least a little afraid if they were almost killed. Right? She had promised herself she would try and let that event remain in the back of her mind soon after she arrived in Somarium, but it seemed to resurface in idle thoughts and now in her dreams. As soon as she spots the dreamberry light flashing, she reaches for it, trying to turn it off quietly. ]
