Pairing: Andrew Garfield/Jesse Eisenberg
Rating: PG at the most :D (I can’t believe it, either)
Summary: Andrew accidentally slips up in an interview and reveals that Jesse is his boyfriend.
A/N: Prompt from tsn_kinkmeme  (prompt:  http://community.livejournal.com/tsn_kinkmeme/4426.html?thread=7370570#t7370570), couldn’t resist answering it and I need to stop filling these prompts ugh;;; anyway, I hope you like it. It’s completely tame, and I tried to make Justin Timbalone a little likeable! becoss idk i find him hilarious.

Andrew thinks he can count the amount of interviews they’ve had on two hands, and he’s remembered them all because he has to be so goddamn mindful of everything he says. Everything. That he says. All. The. Time. And it drives him insane. He’s sitting, wedged between Jesse and Justin, with their interviewer opposite, she looks a little confused at their apparent proximity, but she says nothing of it.

She begins the interview with the same question that they’ve all been asked something like six hundred times before, “What are your thoughts on the movie as a whole?”

Andrew tunes out as Jesse pounces on to answer. The easy questions. He always snatches up the easy questions. Andrew picks up on the amount of times he says “in the” while he stutters and stumbles over his words, and he can feel Justin next to him, rubbing the back of his neck like he always does whenever Jesse’s insistent stuttering begins to grate on his nerves… Justin never did have much patience, especially not with Jesse.

The interviewer has asked another question, and Andrew has to stop his trail of thought and open his mouth to ask her to repeat herself, but Justin begins talking before he has a chance and Andrew’s arm spreads itself out over the backrest of the couch behind Jesse. The camera can’t see his hand rubbing little soothing circles on Jesse’s shoulderblade, and Andrew is glad. While his thigh is lined up with Jesse’s… that isn’t enough for him. He needs to touch. Needs to feel the warmth through Jesse’s stupid peach shirt, just to ensure him that he’s still there. He still belongs to Andrew, and he’s not dreaming.

Jesse doesn’t move away from the touch, and if anything, he leans back into it. Andrew thinks for a second he sees the interviewer’s big brown eyes zero in on that hand, so it freezes in place, and falls slack onto the backrest again... and Andrew’s pretty sure none of them are listening to Justin anymore.

“But… yeah, Sean had his own way, really, of--”

The interviewer looks away, and Andrew can feel Jesse chewing through his bottom lip, like he always does when he’s nervous (or turned on, but the two mix together so much Andrew can never tell, but he’s pretty confident in assuming Jesse’s nervous, here) the interviewer returns to looking at Justin, and Andrew hasn’t said a word in the interview yet, so he begins to listen, instead of nodding in a sort of non-committal way like he normally does. And good thing, too, because Justin stops talking and the interviewer looks at him next;

“Was it difficult for you to play out the breakdown of Mark and Eduardo’s relationship?”

Andrew just looks at her for a moment, like he’s processing the question, and when he opens his mouth to speak, all that comes out is a rather flat, “uhhh…” He swallows, and tries again, “Well, yes, definitely… I mean…. Jesse and I are close, so it… so I had to uh… had to think of him as… well… as sort of like a brother… or a.. Or a close friend, or… even to some extent a boyfriend I mean um… for that betrayal to… to mean anything.” He pauses to smile at her, as if to show that he was joking.

“But I think um… I think it was hard for the both of us. Because we… we were uh… spending a lot of time together off set as well as… as well as on set.”

Justin has tuned out, he often does when Andrew answers questions in interviews because Andrew rambles on so much that the point of what he’s actually trying to say gets lost in all the words he repeats and all the um’s and uh’s, and he honestly doesn’t know how the interviewers stand it, but this one appears to be doing okay, though she is leaning forward with narrowed eyes as if she’s trying very hard to understand what Andrew’s trying to say.

“… and I think… I think how strong that our um, our relationship was… it put a strain on it, I suppose… there came a point where we… we were having a hard time setting ourselves um… apart from uh… our characters, and um… y’know… we’d have to keep taking um… taking breaks from uh… the really intense scenes so that me and Jesse could just… could just um… just be together, and kiss and make up and--”

Jesse cuts him off immediately, “It took some getting used to, um and Andrew had a hard time um… with it. Harder than I did, and…”

Justin tries then, “It was sort of amusing to watch…”

The interviewer seems to sense this, and turns to the camera, “That’s all from Jesse, Justin and Andrew now, but they’ll be back at seven o’clock, make sure you tune in then!”

“Cut!”

Andrew’s stuck staring blankly in front of him, and he’s hardly aware of Jesse and Justin talking at him, it's all sort of background noise and the interviewer’s seat is empty and she’s talking to the film crew and Andrew can tell she’s trying to tell them not to broadcast that last bit, but he curses his ability to read lips as the cameraman says, “We can’t. It’s live.”

He cuts both Justin and Jesse off with a simple: “I’m sorry.” He leans forward, elbows on his knees and head in his hands, “I’m sorry, I… wasn’t thinking…”

He hears Justin draw a breath, and he feels Jesse shift beside him, and mime something and the couch rises as Justin stands and walks away. Andrew’s hands turn into fists in his hair and he lets out another lungful of air.

“I’m sorry, Jesse.”

“Andrew.”

He doesn’t look up.

Jesse’s hand closes around his right wrist, “Andrew. Look at me.”

Reluctantly, Andrew lifts his head.

Jesse’s just giving him that dissaproving, sympathetic but slightly amused and so Jesse-like look that makes Andrew want to claw his eyes out, because he can’t tell if he’s mad or not and it’s driving him insane. He closes his eyes to get Jesse’s stupid face out of his mind, but that doesn’t work so well.

“I don’t care.”

“What?” Andrew opens his eyes, and Jesse is chewing on his lower lip again.

“The media was going to find out eventually, you know, and I mean… we aren’t exactly very good at keeping our secrets… y’know, a secret.” He leans forward a little as he says that, and Andrew sighs again.

“I think it was sort of perfect, actually.”

Andrew raises his brows in disbelief, then. “Really?”

“Well, yes. I mean it will get more viewers, won’t it? Isn’t that what these programs aim for?”

Andrew shakes his head, this is too much to process too soon after revealing such an important secret. He reaches for Jesse’s hand, and since everyone in the room already knows, he leans in for one, quick chaste kiss, and Justin comes back with the interviewer. She’s stammering apologies, and Justin’s hand on her shoulder is all that shuts her up. Andrew’s grateful for her concern, but it was his fault, not hers.

They go live again after the hour’s over, and nothing more is said about Jesse and Andrew’s ‘off screen’ romance. They go home, and Andrew’s determined not to watch the re-run of their little interview, but he turns on the television, and the first thing that he see’s is an ET report on their interview. His slip up is repeated, and he see’s it from a whole other perspective. He’s talking, and it’s painful for him to watch, and Jesse’s just staring blankly past the interviewer, and Justin looks somewhat pained, and as soon as he says ‘Kiss and make up’, Justin’s head flicks around so quick Andrew’s surprised he doesn’t get whiplash, and Jesse’s blue eyes go impossibly wide, then Jesse is speaking and the television turns off.

Jesse’s standing beside it, with a slight smile.

“Do you want some pasta?”
