cat licks

tuesday my dad called and said that he was shooting on fieldston avenue. so lisa, lizzie, dana and i walked all the way up fieldston road to this crappy little house where they were shooting a DEAD BODY SCENE. i can't imagine a more perfect moment. we walked up to the house as the dead body (equipped with blood on his head) was coming out. i recognized him from "beautiful girls." he was a really nice guy that talked with us a lot. dana got to poke at his bloody cut. he actually went to dalton and yale. anyway, we got to go inside and watch them shoot meloni coming into the house and finding the dead body. then we saw marishka. all in all it was perfect timing. afterwards lisa, lizzia and i got fries. we later watched "clueless" while eating bueno indian food. i really love seeing my dad on the job. it's cool to see him concentrate.

i've had a good week. could be because there wasn't much school...thursday was a half day because of some bullshit groundbreaking ceremony they had for the new middle school (16 people showed up). we had a nice barbeque afterwards and lizzie, lisa, dana, katie and i got to sit with malcolm, scott and dan. AHH. I LOVE THE CLASS DORKS. i think i remember saying something weird...either way i got the impression we scared them a bit. but not really. i got really sunburned without realizing it. after that was band day. jeremy's band didn't get to play because he was shooting law and order. but the blue grass band was really good, even though i hate that kind of music. justine was just a girl with her guitar. yawn. and chris, fred and tommy's rendition of "drop it like it's hot" was inspired.

friday was founder's day. it was, unfortunately, a lot more depressing than i was expecting. i knew it was going to be my last one and that the seniors would have to get applauded and all that, but i wasn't expecting to feel kind of emotional. i sat next to ms. stokes, which for some reason made it even more teary. either i don't listen every year, or the speaker was the best i've heard in all of high school. her speech was just excellently written and was actually about important content. also i got to hear ms. stokes go "mmm" every time she said something good. the way her speech was structered (i won't go into the actual structure) made me think a lot about how i want to write my speech.

to the seniors, she said: "may you keep that look of triumph for the rest of your lives."

lily and ryan also spoke. lily's speech was good because it was a nice mix of extreme criticism and extreme praise. but ryan's was something really special, if not simply because of the quality of praise he gave. it was really well structured and was such a love letter to fieldston. both were really inspiring. also ryan got choked up for a split second and i almost died. i had to entertain the possibility that i may get upset while giving my speech. and that would be bad.

so we had a nice lunch afterwards and saw "the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy." which was adorable. we took dana to a nice birthday dinner and then got wasted playing the card drinking game that i learned from emily. lisa got a bit sick, but hey, it's got to happen some time.

i drove like mad yesterday running silly errands. i went to alexis' piano recital last night and it was wonderful...i really needed to hear some classical music. we had dinner at her house afterwards with her mother, uncle, brother and andrew. as we were preparing dinner, we both remarked how wonderful it was that we weren't at springfest. i really just wanted a quiet evening. andrew, alexis and i smoked afterwards and i got to see how many fucking mind games alexis plays with her boyfriend. poor kid. i then called dana stoned off my mind and went to bed. THE END.

now i have to write a fucking history presentation for tomorrow. i'm tired of trying to prove i'm smart in that class when i really just can't do political science. i think i'll make my mother some mother's day chocolate chip cookies instead.
