(no subject)
so i'm leaving for barcelona soon. before i go i just want to say that i saw some really good concerts this past week. i went to an in-store event at other music with michael gira. he was awesome. he was there with akron family, which is apparently some young god records band. but they suck. anyway, he was awesome, his new album sounds awesome, and i even got to mumble "thank you a lot" when i met him. thank you a lot?! what does that mean? he also thought my name was "jonia."
on friday night i saw xiu xiu at the knitting factory. i'm just getting to like xiu xiu and although it can definitely at times be considered a guilty pleasure, i think there's a lot more going on than meets the eye. anyway, i won't attempt to justify listening to them...i'll just say the concert was really good. it was just him and his girlfriend caralee. my only complaint...and maybe i'm just used to crazy def jux crowds....is that no one was getting excited enough. it's like this show was sold out, this is apparently your favorite band...so SHOUT. and someone even shouted "sing this song caralee, you fucking asshole" to which jamie replied: "no one calls caralee a fucking asshole except her baby...and by baby i mean unborn fetus." so, like, the only comments were kind of mean. there was also talking in the back of the bar a lot. which was annoying. but it was great. he even played some songs that i specifically hoped he would play.
erm...oh and on saturday night i saw behold...the arctopus with my brother and his friends. my brother has been back. indeed. i had a nice dinner with alexis last night...it was actually kind of sad to go.
it is sad. a bit. WHY IS IT SAD. i'll probably die when i actually have to leave my house to go to college for the first time. oh my.
