look what you've done!
the christo shit is awesome. i got up at 9:00 to go to the roof of my building to see them. it was there that i encountered a bunch of annoying, rich new yorkers having a party! yay! yay for bagels and lox! and orange colored decorations! i'm being unfair...the people who actually live there are really nice. but all the other people (mostly those who actually live in my building) are so social. in an annoying way. like they gossip. and were japs long ago. i guess i don't like the way my mom doesn't belong there. i want to make sure she feels comfortable (even though she does) and say "you're cooler than them."
what nonsense! i'm talking about everything but the art. it reminds me of the fact that the roll of film i took up there is going to be reloaded and shot-over...so i didn't take so many pictures of the gates as i did of like building tops and the ice in the pond. those will, hopefully, make good background shots for this roll. so i was kind of noticing the ugly people and pretty landscapes more than the actual gates....but as for the gates, they're awesome. they're still unfurling them (i somehow imagined every single one being unfurled at the same time) and the orange, despite its somewhat offensive orangeness, provides a nice contrast to how absolutely dead the park looks. looking at it from 18 stories up made me realize how brown everything can get. what was awesome was seeing hints of orange in the distance...the real treat will be taking a long long walk and seeing them near bethesda and all the other cool places. walking my dog will not be annoying for the next two weeks.
well, i'm off to my first driver's ed lecture. this is going to be fascinating i just know it.
