I had a wonderful evening last night with E and NE. I hadn't seen NE since Christmas Fest, so it was very nice to catch up with him. We sat around and talked for about two hours before popping in Interview with a Vampire. E and I made the apparent mistake of trying out the natural gas fireplace that my family had just had installed that morning and started the fire alarm at nearly 1am. Remarkably, despite the noise and me laughing while fanning the alarm to get it to stop and not start again, no one in the house woke up! The dogs didn't even bark. Kind of scary though.
My Sunday school students were wonderful day. They all got their memory verses down and participated actively and thoughtfully in discussion during class. I was so proud of them!
Adam, Natalie, Ben, Mom, me, Eugene, and Dad all sat in church together in that order. Family friends sat in front of and beside us too. Afterward, we all went out to eat at the Feed Mill, an old little down-home-style restaurant in town. There, I got a big surprise hug from behind by a regular customer of the coffee shop (where I've been working every Saturday again for the past month). E and I grabbed the buffet because he needed to rush off to work (the Apple Store as a Mac specialist--so proud of and happy for him). I had to smile about him talking about the special something (charm but particularly the food) the restaurant and other small-town restaurants (and truck stops! Can't forget Big Steer) I've introduced him too. We might visit Big Steer again next Monday.
At home, I received a phone call from RF and invite to see Curious George with her and her boyfriend. The offer was sweet, but I declined for the sake prepping for the week and relaxing a bit at home. I checked my email and Facebook to find message from GS and CT--nice to hear from them. Then I crashed for a four hour nap.
Since then, I've cut out articles for Ben's scrapbook in preparation for his graduation party, helped Mom with laundry, and tried at all costs to avoid being post-nap moody with my dad who was the human incarnation of the Energizer Bunny. Moodiness detected but no spats. Now, I get to get ready for bed where I hope to get close to finishing my latest read Crispin: The Cross of Lead by Avi. Fabulous book. The author has any amazing way of spotlighting the gift of today's political and civil freedoms and perception of the religion through the voice of a 12th century 13-year-old's conviction of the apparently divinely intended impossibility of their very existence. Just amazing to watch the subtle messages unfold in the boy's realization of the possibility of a free world. It's a Newberry Medalist too.
Life is so very rich. I find myself astounded more than ever lately by its profound depth. I hope to never stop wondering at its unpredictable beauty.
